Chocobo forest quest line...

This is the most tedious thing I have ever done in an MMO. A rare miss for XIV here.

I have pretty much spent more than an hour running in a triangle for three hunters that could have done all this stuff themselves -.-

50-60 hours for the main quest line? 45 of it seems to be running from one NPC to another...

Ya i absolutely hated that quest chain with that female miquote hunter. The whole thing was get quest, run across the map to an obnoxiously annoying place to climb to, then return to the camp. And this was like the longest quest chain in the game. They just kept adding more and more to it. Every spot you had to go to you couldnt go straight to it but all the way around past it then climb up and back track to it.

I would strongly advise you to largely ignore side quests until you absolutely need them to continue leveling to unlock the next step in the MSQ.

If you skip them initially it is much much easier to do them when you come back with a flying mount. There are a number of quests that are possible to do without flight but are incredibly tedious if you cannot traverse the terrain easily.

Do you like Easter egg hunts? Because that's what the side quests in the next zone are; 5 moogles hidden in a large 3D area. After the first 20 find the moogle quests, you'll be longing for the days of tedious running back and forth quests.

It's funny, they make these quests that make you wish you could fly so badly but by the time you get it you really don't need it anymore. I feel like the quest designers were a little sadistic this expansion.

IIRC, those hunter quests are not required to unlock flying in that area, so it's better to do them after you can fly.

Those hunter quests actually ARE required to unlock flying, because they unlock the ability to get one of the quest Aethers with a subsequent quest that gets unlocked for running around for those three.
