After talking to the development team about this suggestion, they mentioned that they will look into making it possible to ride other mounts while your companions is out; however, we can't make any promises at the moment.

This would be fantastic.

Companions and mounts in general could stand to be less obtuse to use. I hate having to dismiss for duties or dismount to talk to an NPC.

Orrr they could go a step farther and make it where you can choose which mount you have will be your companion ^_-

Because every mount would then need own battle animations (because the possibility that someone choose that mount as a companion), that would result into more copy/paste mounts (ponies) or to a drastic decrease of new mounts.

I was kind of hoping the expansion would overhaul the companion system to not only let us have our chocobo out and able to use other mounts but to also use DF while our chocobo is out. I'm not sure why it was designed the way it was to begin with honestly. Why are they considered a party member? In swtor can do it with a half assed engine I'm sure a superior built game like FFXIV can pull it off.

No thanks, it can be a PITA already with some people that feel they need to stand literally on top of the NPC to talk to them. Imagine 30 players on mounts crowded on top of a quest NPC?

As a poster said earlier, it happens already, why make it worse as majority would stay on mounts whilst interacting with quest NPCs.

I would kill to be able to queue for dungeons AND have my chocobo out for some FATE soloing (or just main tanking FATE bosses and having a healer that WILL heal me without asking 20 times)
