Smn class that doesn't summon the primals....

    Like the title says....

A class idea for a summoner class where you don't summon the classic FF primals like shiva ifrit titan etc etc....but instead you summon new "spirits."

This will make the primals more godly and epic for the storyline and not mess up the lore and stuff. And with creating new "spirits" you could make summoner very original since your not bound by the "traditional" abilities.

Just please dont make summoner a hybrid class like it was in XI....pick a direction for the class and stick with it. Make it either pure Damage, pure support, pure healer, pure tank, or a mix of ONLY TWO!! not 3 or 4...but TWO! lol....

    Ideas:

    Smn as a Damager/Support class

    Spirit : Bomb King
Summon Bomb King, Once summoned he casts Fire three times, each time growing larger in size, after the 3rd cast he explodes and deals AoE fire damage. higher levels changes the tier of fire cast and the damage of the explosion.

    Spirit : Mog
Summon Mog, once summoned he does a dance, depending on what day of the week it is depends on what dance he does. Once he dances, he dismisses himself.

Fireday: Does En-fire to all party members

Either can make him do en-element for each day..or something completely different.

    Spirit: Tonberry
Summon Tonberry, once summoned he attacks the target, each melee hit has a chance of inflicting A debuff of some sort....after x amount of stacks of the debuff the summoner can tell tonberry to use "Everyone's Grudge".... once he does "Everyone's Grudge" it does y amount of damage to the target
for each stack of the debuff.

    Just an Idea.....

Hmm, I like the idea of it, simply because it's a way to introduce the SMN class/job without disturbing the Lore. However, I think what they SHOULD do is introduce a series of summons to either mimic or parallel the primals.

For the mimic idea, they would be like vessels that take on the shape and styles of the primals.

For the parallel idea, they could come up with a series of summons that are the good, non-violent versions of the primals. And eventually, what they could do is whenever you beat some of the primal summons, you convert them to the "good side" and they are then summon-able.

Insulting people in the counter argument isn't going to change their minds. It will make them stick harder to their opinion regardless of whether or not it's right, and think less of your opinion simply because you insulted them. In essence, if you want to try and change someone's mind, come up with a well thought-out response and don't be a dick.

I was gonna post a thread after 1.19 with a suggestion if (and only IF) we are not gaining the ability to summon the primals after defeating them. I had thought of an ability that would call forth the primal you wanted and it would turn itself into armor for DoW/M classes and have certain actions boosted as a result. Kinda like the summons in ff13 turning ito vehicles, but you get to wear them as armor

Interesting ideas, but I rather liked the versatility of the SMN job in FFXI. Not that I'm advocating they make a replica, but if they introduced a SMN class/job in FFXIV I'd be pretty bummed about not being able to summon and control the primals - even if they weren't at their "maximum" power (such as displayed in the stories).

They should let you summon King Diamond. Then I would start to feel like this game was making REAL progress.

Tanaka said you could summon the primals in his version of the game. But it would take lot's of time and chain of quest to be allow to use them. His version of the game also said we could learn from the beastman like Spells, recipes"For craft, New abilities.

How the lore went in his version was that not all beastman was evil some thought that war would bring peace to the world. But some beastman thought that being friends and talking over would bring peace.

"Just my idea"To my understand was that you could go to each beastman do chain of quest and become friends with such beastman and when you reach a high friendship with them you be allow to learn to summon there primals as Respect. Now to learn how to Summon more then 1 beastman would have issue "spoilers Warning" When ifrit was summon by the beastman he said he would help but only if we did not ask the other Primals for help. It seem some of the primals dislike eachother. Now this does not mean we could not be allow to summon more then one but it seem it be harder as you go on and have to do more chain of quest to make the beastman like eachother enough to allow you to make other pack with other Primal.

I think this is what Tanaka version of the game would have turn out to be. I still think yoshi-p should do this and allow us to be friend beastman and learn from them and even make pack with them. When smn do come out allow them to ask the primals to use there god in a fight. I don't see how the lore can get mess up when you could easy come up with a loop hole to make this happen.

I was thinking it would be interesting if summoners were allowed to summon primals, but you could only choose one of them. This also would not violate the lore and I think it would make for interesting gameplay. By forcing the player to choose which summon they want to make a pact with, it makes each summoner unique. You'd end up with some people who have ifrit, some who have titan, some garuda, etc etc. Each would have their own pros and cons. For example ifrit may be more suited for battle where as something like garuda may be more support oriented. So by choosing a certain primal it determines the summoners role in a party.

Of course summoners would also have the basic abilities from the classes like cure so forth. So depending on what primal you choose and how you fill your action bar, you could have a pretty unique class.

Easy alternative to the Primals: Make it so Summoners can call upon FFXIV versions of the Zodiac Beasts in the Ivalice games.

While nice to think of having the Summoner class, we don't even know when they plan to implement Arcanist(sp) and Musketeer, let alone Summoner.

I liked how the world of Ivalice (FF12, FFT) did this. They named their airships after the traditional summons instead and gave the espers different identities.
