I can't seem to commit to playing any of my characters...

This character was my original main-character, a Miqo'te Monk. Even though I was never crazy about Miqo'te as a whole, I really grew attached to him. Even though my intention has always been to play the Dark Knight in Heavensward, part of me wants to race-change him back to a Miqo'te (which I'll soon have an extra Fantasia from buying the CE), simply to retain my "original" character.

At the same time, whenever I think about just starting a new character to be my Au Ra Dark Knight, I genuinely can't decide what the "right" direction to start them out as. I actually created *two* Au Ra characters -- one as a Gladiator, the other as a Marauder -- and even though I don't intend to play either of those Classes/Jobs, but for me, it's more about "what fits the story more?".

I know it's stupid to most people, but I really get caught up on the whole idea of creating a "perfect character". Should the Xaela start in Ul'dah, join the Immortal Flames, and serve the Sultana, up until Heavensward? Should they come into Limsa Lominsa, join the Maelstrom, and remain indifferent to the events that happen in Ul'dah? Or should I just stop taking the story seriously, and just focus on trying to do everything on one, single character?

I would honestly appreciate hearing you guys' different points of view, your advice, anything!

Personally, I would stick with one character. I always have a favorite race, so I have no conflicts with choosing one and going with it. Until HW, I like Miqote the best. But now I'm a huge fan Au Ra. In regards to story, just have to pretend I always was an Au Ra and it's fine. Our characters are all from "far away lands" anyway. Btw, I started in Limsa.

I guess it's just strange, because I poured a ton of time into making my Miqo'te "match" his AF armor. By the time I finished 2.55, I felt like he was an actual *character*, not just "my in-game avatar". I feel like my Au Ra looks awesome, but he has a totally different kind of personality; where the Miqo'te Monk was friendly and charming, the Au Ra is dark and menacing. Even just placing him in my old Monk AF armor (which is the only Job I actually leveled in ARR), he just looks incredibly out-of-place.

This is why I can't ever fantasia into something else... I've grown too attached to my character, haha.
If you're super dedicated to RPing, then maybe you would be interested in leveling different characters. Personally I'd find that a bit -too- tedious, so I couldn't do it.

I do spend hours in the character creator though....... even my retainers are all "characters" I've made.

A while back I was going to change my character into a Lalafell once I finished the main story. But then he developed a personality of his own and a back story and all that and now I'm stuck with him. XD

It's not that I actively RP, it's just that I've become too attached to think about changing him now.

This is my issue too. I turned my BLM into an Au Ra to see the new race and do something different but the Au Ra is friendly while my Duskwight was severe. I'm still not sure if I'll change back to Duskwight or change names and make a new "character" entirely. Probably the former. This game has a way of making you feel invested in those pixels

Honestly, at this point, I think I'm just going to use Fantasia on this character, and go back to being a Miqo'te Monk.

However, I would absolutely appreciate advice on what my new character should be. He'll literally have the exact same appearance as my current character here; deeply-tanned skin, auburn hair, and golden eyes. What I can't decide is whether would "fit" the Story better for him to:

A) Start out as a Gladiator, join the Immortal Flames, and become a Paladin, before eventually fleeing to Ishgard and becoming a Dark Knight, or

B) Start out as a Marauder, join the Maelstrom, and stay less personally-involved with the goings-on of Ul'dah.

Also, given that the Xaela's names and lore are supposely based on the Mongolians, I wonder if that should factor in?

I always love my character.Once servers are up,i'm gonna use fantasia from bonus-items's pack and change to Au Ra.And will change the appearance of my main retainer(Fem Hyur) to current Miqo'te for reminder because i know that i'm gonna miss my oldself at one point.

Unless you plan to do a "fall from grace" sort of story, the Ul'dah PLD ----> DRK doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Being an ex-pirate or finding it easier to be accepted in Limsa due to their carefree nature seems to make a lot more sense. And going from a giant axe and "aggressive" style of the Warrior makes more sense to transition to Dark Knight IMO.

Anyone else care to chime-in? Honestly, I'd appreciate any feedback. Like I said, at this point, I think I'm just going to play up a second character, so for me, it just depends on which seems more "Lore-friendly".

Xaela Gladiator, who serves the Immortal Flames? Or Xaela Marauder, who serves the Maelstrom? Which of those choices better align with their specific cultures, or even the overarcing story?
