Cool So im a Newbie at Level 40!

Weird i know! I have gotten this far with my strategy being "Do the heals! Get the Points!" until reality struck me right in my White Mage face! When some tank asked me to kite enemies and i said a reluctant but confident "OK!" even though i have a extremely vague recollection of what kiting is? Also isn't it so that if the team did their job a little better then i didn't have to kite enemies? I dunno cause i've only played for like a week!

Were you in Cutters Cry? It was a popular technique to kite the marshall and other ants while everyone else just killed the boss. I guess that could apply to all kiting possibilities, just makes it go a little bit faster.

I noticed once you hit lvl 35 dungeons, you really REALLY need to watch vids or read walkthroughs of what dung you'll be doing. That way, you can see how over your head healing could be, etc.

Yes and i totally panicked every time those things started chasing me. Also the tank gave me vague strategies of what to do? I've watched a video walkthrough and i think i have some idea of what to do. But they are so many all the time and my gear is utter crap. I tried using Shroud of Saints ability i have, to no avail.

Welcome to the game, fellow white mage ^^

Shroud of saints has 2 purposes.
    1. get MP back
    2. dump aggro

You were using it for #2, I think, but in kiting you don't want to do that. You *want* the monsters to try to attack you. Basically, shroud of saints can be useful for #2 if the tank is trying to get a mob off you.

So what to do in that cutter's cry boss: Cast regen so the adds all aggro you. Run around the arena in a wide circle, make sure to use sprint any time it's available. Keep casting regen (it's instant so you don't have to stop) on the tank, until the boss is dead.

Welcome to XIV again and have fun!

Might also want to cast regen on yourself

Ideally yes, the healer shouldn't need to kite but it is the accepted strategy in Cutter's Cry on the first boss .. especially with a white mage (who has regen). One of the adds constantly heals the boss if he gets too close to her, so rather than try to explain to the dps what they need to do it is easier to just have the healer do laps around the outside while using the occasional regen.
