It's part of the Churning Mists quest arc.

    SPOILER WARNING
The moogles of the Twelveswood meet with the moogles of Moghome and discover that their ancient legends aren't so different, coming to the conclusion the Good King Moggle Mog XII and Chieftain Moggle were probably one in the same. Myths combined, Moggle would have been a great leader who, after fire rained from the sky and broke the flying continent into pieces, led a band of moogles away so that they might still live in harmony. The thing that connects the two groups ends up being the kupo nuts and trees, which were brought from the heavens to the grounds below.

The story has been fancied up over the years so you'll need to shave some of it off, what with the Twelve and the warring gods and the great king Moggle and all that. Good King Moggle Mog XII might still be more myth manifest than not, but there's shards of truth, it seems!

I, myself, am doing transcripts as I go, so it's been slowgoing. Someone who's seen the information first-hand instead of hearing about it from excited friends (who try their best not to spoil the scenario, at least) might be able to elaborate a bit more accurately.

Not sure how far in you are, but you re-visit the Mists at level 58 or 59 and do some longish side quest chains to get the info, but it's revealed in a cutscene. Good news is if you have it done and somehow missed it, it should be in your inn room.

Edit: I happened to have saved the relevant section because I saw a typo. Here you go if you want it:

[10:39]Moglin: Ah, you've returned at last. Are the kupo nuts safe from harm?
[10:40]Mogleo: Those malicious monsters won't be laying theirs paws on our nuts anymore, kupo, thanks to the help of the Twelveswood moogles!
[10:40]Moglin: Ah, it's so nice to see you working together to defend our home, kupo. Well, now that the the storm has been weathered, I believe Aria wanted to know all about moogle names─Hopefully it will serve as an inspiration to her.
[10:40]Kupli Kuki: Actually, Chieftain Moglin, I was the one who asked the adventurer to ask you. I was thinking, isn't it curious that our names sound so different from yours, kupo?
[10:40]Kupli Kuki: In the Twelveswood, we usually start our names with “Ku” or “Pu.” They say it's because it makes the names sound like “kupo nut.”
[10:40]Kupli Kuki: Mayhap when the moogles came down from the sky, the kupo nuts were their most prized possession, kupo! But the Moghome moogles love kupo nuts too, so I've wondered why their names are different.
[10:40]Moglin: You're quite perceptive, Kupli Kuki. Truth be told, I've never though about the reason myself. Would it not make sense for moogles to start their name with “Mog?” It's been that way for as long as anyone can remember, kupo.
[10:40]Moglin: My ancestor, who was Moghome's first chieftain, was named Moggle, and in fact it was he who decided which brave moogles would travel down to the surface after fire rained from the skies.
[10:40]Kupli Kuki: Moggle... That name seems so familiar... kupopo! Moggle Mog!?
[10:41]Kupli Kuki: Could Chieftain Moggle may have in fact been Moogle Mog? If so... Chieftain Moglin, you would be a descendant of Good King Moggle Mog XII─may all his lineage bask in greatness!
[10:41]Moglin: Indeed, the two names are quite similar, kupo. Moggle Mog... I remember─this was the name of the king from your legend.
[10:41]Kupli Kuki: It all makes sense, kupo. The legend is so ancient, it's no wonder the name changed ever so slightly! That means I'm presenting myself before the descendant of the last king of mooglekind!
[10:41]Kupli Kuki: The legends tell of more than just the King, kupo! The valiant household guard of Good King Moggle Mog XII─may his legend live on forevermore─is also detailed at some length. Does that mean that the Pomguard is also...
[10:41]Mogleo: The history of the Pomguard is long and illustrious, dating back to Chieftain Moggle's humble beginnings, kupo.
[10:41]Kupli Kuki: Kupopo! That means his household guard was actually the Pomguard. I'm among some of the most historic moogles of all time!
[10:41]Mogleo: I never knew we were so important─how embarrassing! Oh, I almost forgot─ We never thanked you for helping us take down those dreadful monsters, kupo.
[10:42]Mogleo: For all of your brave services in defense of our lovely orchard, and in celebration of our newfound friendship, we shall bequeath upon you...one kupo nut each!
[10:42]Kupli Kuki: Kupopo! I could think of no better a reward myself! Our stomachs will be full tonight!

By the way, I've found that Notepad++ parses the log line breaks pretty well. Dunno what program you use, but it's nice to be able to c/p things without formatting issues.

You pick up the Last quest outside of house Fortemp at 58 I think. It could be 59 But the house Fortemp Knight will have it assuming you have done all the side quests for the churning mists.... all of them.... all.... *Nightmares*

Basically there was some sort of issue that happened probably to do with Allag and their crazed invasions of everything (All we know is fire came from the sky). The Moogles sky home was destroyed so Moggle who was the leader at the time sent Moogles down to the land to try to settle a new home taking their food with them to plant trees. Somehow they just never went back and generations grew up on land and another in the sky in the scattered remains of their home who kinda forgot each other existed because it was all myth by that point and the tales were embellished.

Interestingly it parallels with Arthurian legend whereby King Arthur is thought to be, historically, based on a chieftain or warlord rather than being an actual king.

Think about it, nobody wants to die, there's rules to this game son, I'm justified.
