From what I am told they don't care about big numbers. They only care about 'retention'. So you get the flood of players coming in. A lot has been paid in preorders etc, you have EA and then launch. Servers get flooded, people get frustrated and eventually people unsub in frustration or wait it out. The numbers even out and SE is happy cause they got steady income again.

Now look at Blizzard. They are the opposite. They want the numbers and when WoD launched they were surprised. Yet they kept in communication and eventually offered compensation for their failure of an expansion launch. Sadly though Blizzard still lost 3 mill subs a few months after WoD anyways.

Did SE see that and just decided to shrug it off thinking it wouldn't matter to them? Who knows? Right now they are silent other than "hey the servers are going to be congested" and so far that's ALL they have said. They are not addressing the manner. They have decided to remain silent. Come launch they probably will continue to remain silent. Early access is just a prelude of the crap we're going to get. Look at all the threads. There is no way they are unaware of what is going on. They just choose not to speak to the players about it.
