"Oh, but if you can use cheesy methods to get all of the cards, isn't it over too soon?" Well, even if you cheese your way around the world and gather every card, the cards can be converted into items. Transform a card into a junk item, then refine the junk item into Magic spell stock. Plenty of reason to continue playing, farming certain cards, and enjoying the mini game.

Think on this. FFVIII lacked all of the restrictions we see in FFXIV, yet for some reason it was popular enough in that incarnation to be included into a game 16 years later. Letting players choose whatever cards they want, fight NPCs at whatever Erozean time they want, and be able to alter regions rules as they want, would not make the game any less popular, because if it did, we wouldn't be talking about Triple Triad in 2015.
Wish I could spam likes on this, because YES. So much this.

I remember I was overjoyed when they finally told us that yes, TT is gonna make its way into FFXIV. I loved the f××× out of TT in FFVIII, there were times I literally didn't do anything else in there but played TT for hours - and that's without even mentioning the card transforms. I just loved it, it was that much fun (to me, anyway).

And then... here? Like I said, I don't even bother with it. Beat a few easy NPCs back then, to see what it's like, just to have them beaten... and that's it; ever since I wish I hadn't seen what it's like. That insane RNG they added to it (that they added to the whole of GS) just transformed it into a zombie-mode grindfest - when it was supposed to be fun (again, the whole of GS, and this is why I'm not excited for LoV either, because I kinda expect the same thing there too, but let me be wrong).
