Cannot select DX11 with my geforce 550TI

Hi, its exactly as it says, the option is greyed out on the client. I have tried installing dx runtime installer, checked net-framework 4 was working correctly and installed latest drivers for my system and GFX card. All appears to be ok, the card supports directx11 as far as i can tell. The only issue i can see is that i use 32bit system Windows 8.1 so im not getting the recommended 4gig ram. I am unsure if its the same on other games

    Any other ideas?
    Thanks

    I've heard it's 64-bit only.

You need 64bit o.s. its FFXIV 3.0 requirement. oh and if you want to upgrade from 32bit You have to do a win clean install, and remove any partitions (i.e. sys reserve)you already have on the same drive. so just boot from cd/dvd and select "custom"/"clean install" on your o.s. drive. You will then have to update all sys drivers,re initialise network and its drivers, then update the new win installation, and finally reinstall just about everything else you have that writes to the registry. You can not save your 32reg and expect it to work.

    Thanks S.E.

It's not a 3.0 requirement... you can play on dx9/32bit just fine.

But, yes, the new platform does require not using an antiquated OS mode. 64 bit brings a lot of under-the-hood benefits. No need for sarcasm.
