No commendations for healing and DPSing

It seems silly for me to complain about it.

Last night during EX roulette in Neverreap, we had a very terrible SMN in our party. Rarely refresh dots or bane. Saw him rarely use Dreadwyrm Trance and when he did, it was really poorly. Like seriously used Deathflare after only two Ruin 3. Everything was dying so slow. I didn't say anything about it, instead I went into screw it mode and DPS during the first boss. Of course, by the end of it, didn't get any commendations.

Just did EX roulette again, I decided to DPS and heal the entire dungeon and everything went swimmingly. I waited after we cleared the final boss to see if I'd get a commendation and as I left, nada.

This has happened a lot though where I try to maximize my abilities in dungeon runs but only seem to get noticed when I'm full time healing. I don't want to be pigeon holed into full time healing just so I can get commendations for achievement awards. (Come on, I know you guys want a parade chocobo whistle too)

Maybe the people thought none of you did well?
Maybe they were in a rush and forgot?
I DPS and heal all the time. I don't get commendations all the time but I doesn't bother me.

It shouldn't matter. I think most of the time people give commendations based on the impact you had on them during the run rather than strictly by performance. If your performance impacted them positively enough then great, but everyone has different play styles and different values on how they judge the experience so you really can't go in expecting commendations or assuming that not getting them means anything specific.

You don't always get comms. It's not a big deal. I essentially solo healed A1 in DF the other day (Not a big deal in PF or static, I know, but for the other heals to hop in cleric, say nothing and stay there, in DF...), with only one dps dying, due to them not dodging a couple of things, and no comms. Was I a little annoyed that no one noticed, yeah, but whatever, move on, do another run.

You also have to remember that if things are going bad, people most likely don't know the mechanics, and if they don't know them,you don't know if someone is doing them well, or how hard it can be to do them while dpsing as heals. It's not going to change and its not a big deal.

I DPS and heal all the time in dungeons. After first boss i see who knows the fight or who doesnt yet, and then it's clear whether u can only put dots and reapply or dps a bit more.
Yesterday had BLM in my team that was lagging, saved her ass maybe 20 times and ressed about 5 times, she didn't avoid 90% of aoes and was horribly lagging. Tank said i did perfect job, though i dont know how i pulled all that with mana(AST latest changes did eliminate most mana issues), ended up with 2 commendations because probably the third one was lagging xD

Normally i end up with 1-2 commendations in dungeon, when i have to talk a lot, then with 3. Though i honestly don't care about those that much

This has happened a lot on US servers though, where most DF players are just beyond terrible. You can do an excellent job, but as healer you end up baby sitting your entire party - or making up for the lack of DPSing from your actual DPS. Let's not even talk about tanks who don't even weave defensive cool downs at all.... So if you are in one of those "longer than necessary" dungeon run, people usually had enough at the end and just want to get the hell out of there, commendation be damn. You could get one of those bad group of players. I am sorry to see this happened to you. Although, sometimes people just don't even bother to do commendation, being nice is over rated skills.

I noticed that, too. When I have a good day and feel like getting the most out of my class (scholar) by switching to cleric stance as often as possible/reasonable, use shadowflare and stuff alot, without neglecting healing, nobody dies, everything goes fluent and faster due to my additional dps - I get in average FAR less recommendations than I get on bad days, where I just mindlessly spam physick and do nothing other than heal. Its soo demotivating at the end of the dungeon

It almost seems like the partymembers just see that their hp bars aren't at 100% the whole time, so they conclude you make a bad job or something. I don't know.

People commend for various reasons and the standards vary greatly. I'll usually commend the person I felt had the biggest impact on the run some people commend the most helpful or the funniest name whatever. I've had runs I basically carried to a win and got no commendations. As long as I know I did well it's fine. You are the one who sees all of your performances so it's yourself you need to impress not randoms in DF.

Wiped the party by accident in The Aery a few nights ago, and let tank die because I was DPSing once... but got enough jokes in that I got both comms \o/ (other was FCmate). Then there's been several occasions where I just performed incredibly despite mishaps made by the party. No comms.

It's definitely got more to do with your behaviour than your performance.
