Lore reasons for Au ra to be in Eorzea

I was wondering what everyone else decided on as far as a logical or just plain random/fun reason for your au ra to be in Eorzea~

In the lore it is pretty easy to say "My raen left Doma before-during-after the Garlean assault on the city." but what about not so simple lore reasons, or what about Xaela as a whole, they didn't really have to go anywhere.

My raen is pretty standard, she lost her home and family ;^; sad stuff.. my Xaela though I made up a self-amusing back story for, her name is Altani Goro~ and she in on the verge of entering womanhood, the only issue is she is being picky about her husband, all horses are wonderful but she has her heart set on Sleipnir, no other steed will do. So after a great deal of convincing Papa'khan to let her go she has made her way to Eorzea to /take/ Sleipnir from Odin (imagine her horror when she discovers how far the shroud is from Limsa)

So~ add pics, mini comics, fun stuff, i will be hopefully. This can be a place for your characters lore~

My raen, Kamui Tachibana, is shy. Really shy. So he's become an adventure to try to get over that.

I haven't decided if he's from a merchant family or from family that's part of the ruling class, though on the lower end of it. His surname is an old Japanese surname associated with two clans; a clan of nobles closely tied to the imperial court, and a clan of daimyo. It also means 'Wild Orange' which is why I have some leaning to the merchant class as the Lore states they usually have a battle related surname if part of the ruling class.

In either case, Ul'dah makes the most sense to Kamui, if he's a merchant it's because Ul'dah is the merchant capital. If he's nobility it's for two reasons; he's trained to use a sword, so there's the gladiator guild, and he thinks Ul'dah is the capital of Eorzea, and it's best to start there.

Here's a picture of him looking scared.

Mmn, I was going to have a fun plot involving a Xaela tribe that had a near worship-like relationship with a dragon living in Othard, having heard the Dragonsong and Nidhogg's chorus erupt, alongside a possible Garlean threat, the Dragon felt the duty to send the tribe to Eorzea. My character in question would be the first born child of the previous elder and current leader of the tribe, scouting out Eorzea and ending up doing just as the Dragon willed. Maybe mixing in some fun backstory were some of the elders of the tribe and the dragon kept back home where they came to fight of the Garlean forces and die in the process to allow the next generation to find a new home and fulfill the will of the Dragon and aid in the Dragonsong war.

My character is a member of the Dalamiq tribe, traveling to Eorzea on pilgrimage to the site of Dalamud's descent, and will begin the cult of Bahamut anew as the Summoner who calls upon the primal's essence within herself. Fairly straightforward there.

My Raen's name is Satomi Tanaka. She was actually part of my main character Aeri'ica's back story. She worked with Yugiri as part of the resistance before Garlean destroyed Doma. During the resistance's campaign to revolt against them she had traveled to the Black Shroud where she and her husband, who went with her, had found Aeri'ica unconscious in the South Shroud. Long story short, they brought her back with them and healed her over a long period. They had sent Aeri'ica back to Eorzea before their revolt against Garlean had begun, and then failed. Her husband was killed and so Satomi was forced to flee Doma. She made her way to Eorzea, with the help of Yugiri, so she could start her life over. Thats her basic story though it has lot more to it.

As a side note to the extensive backstory for Aeri'ica, she found out later from Yugiri that she had visited Aeri'ica when she was recovering from her wounds suffered during the Calamity. Yugiri knew that Aeri'ica was in danger once she had recovered due to the possibility of the Garleans discovering their hiding place. She had some fellow rebels escort Aeri'ica in secret to Western La Noscea and had given her a potion that erased her memory for her own protection. They new that there were Garlean outposts in various areas of Eorzea and might start hunting her down if they knew of her. Of course they do now anyway. Yugiri had never disclosed Satomi's name and so at this time Aeri'ica is not aware that Satomi is even residing in Eorzea, and Limsa Lominsa no less. Hopefully since Yugiri knows Aeri'ica, she may decide to arrange a meeting with them.

My Rean, Allein, was lucky enough to be taken in by a few temple knights after the caravan of refugees from she was with was sacked. at the time she was still young, so she has little memory of orthard and doma, though she doesn't mind. Her being an Au ra prevents her from joining the temple knights...so she kind of left to become an adventurer out of spite...

The reason for my char being an au ra is very long and detailed lol. The back story behind in the Allag empire where an Allag scientist was experimenting with aether and its effects on people. During his study's he created my char a being made entirely of aether however not having a body makes it a bit difficult to interact with the world. Eventually however he figured out a way to inhabit beings of flesh and blood but there is a catch in order to inhabit the body it must be empty.....basically the person must be dead.without going in to to much detail as that would make this post huge, he started is ff14 journey as a cat person then in 2.4 he became a Hyur uldahn noble and finally at the start of heavensward he again came to inhabit a new body that of a doman au ra shinobi who met his end gathering info on the traitorous crystal Braves.

Ooo! been hoping a thread like this would pop up...

My Au Ra is a Fantasia induced Au Ra, but I have a back story for my head canon as to why and how:

Marik was starting to feel more run down than usual... he felt weak, even more weak then having his blessing of light sealed away from him. After the escape from Ul'dah and avoiding capture for the framed assassination of Nanamo Ul Namo, Marik wasn't quite sure how he could continue on.. both mentally and now... physically.

He had stopped by talking to Yugiri the next day before their big trip to Ishgard, wondering if she had any Doman remedies that might fix his aliments. Yugiri was quite perplexed to see the Warrior of Light in such an ill state. Finally an echo vision appeared before Marik, but this one... was different, this one was about himself... about his home in Vana'diel! He saw fast glimpses of all his friends, family, and loved ones back in that world. Why was he seeing all this all of a sudden? He had finally moved forward with his new life in Eorzea, in Hydaelyn.

Oh why did his new abilities torment him so! But then all went blank, and his body started to rack over with even more pain! And after awaking, he could not believe his very eyes...

...his body was dissipating before his very eyes! Bits and pieces falling apart as if it was just a form of aether going back into the lifestream. What was Marik going to do?! Yugiri looked upon Marik for what seemed quite some time, before she seemed to have made up her mind. She alerted Marik of how she knew how to fix this, but it would be quite taxing and might feel rather unpleasant in the best of terms... but she didn't see how he had a choice.

Marik agreed to what ever Yugiri's plan was, and quickly she vanished, into parts unknown. Later that night in the waning hours of dusk, Yugiri returned with a few of her fellow Domans, and a two large satchels. One could fit an entire Hume... er Hyur into one of them, maybe two Hyurs! But.. the other bag was much smaller and contained a grimoire and herbs, potions, and flowers of sorts. Undoing the ropes to the larger satchel unleashed a body... Marik's eyes weren't sure what he was seeing! Did Yugiri just commit mur... but she quickly dispelled any doubt in the Warrior of Lights head, by explaining this was a man already dead when she found him, and was actually a man quite close to her and would want for his body to be made useful even after death.

Quickly Yugiri began preparations for what ever she was about to do, asking Marik to lie flat on the ground beside her once companion. After drawing some runes and symbols across the ground and around the two bodies on the floor, she gave Marik some sort of bottle containing gods knows what! He swiftly drank it, feeling is life slipping further away until all went black! Marik's mind floated about, his soul no longer bound to his dying body... and suddenly.. there was heavy breathing! Marik inhaled quickly, then exhaled. He was breathing again! And the pain was gone... he staggered some what, till he was on his feet. But it wasn't his feet, or wasn't his old feet! He quickly looked into a near by mirror to see his entire body had been changed!

No longer did the body or his body lie on the floor, but some how been fused into one body. He looked just like Yugiri, only a male version of Yugiri. He felt his new scales, wiggled around his new tail... a commodity that he always fancied wanting to have one of his own... and looked into his new eyes. He was still Marik! Still the same Scion, Warrior of Light, and friend. Just his outward appearance was different... that and the fact he was thankfully no longer dying.

Yugiri explained thoroughly that her people, both the Raen's and Doman's had ancient ritual they could preform in times of great desperation, but at a hefty price! For it called for a sacrifice of a body in order to fuse a dying body together with it. Thankfully and yet unfortunately one of Yugiri's close comrades had recently passed away, and yet was a blessing in disguise for the fading Warrior of Light. Yugiri allowed Marik some quick privacy to get accustomed to his new body, as well as alerting their friends of what had just transpired, and find more suitable clothing. So thankful was Marik to be a skilled craftsman!

Marik took in all that happened, and was grateful for the remaining friends he still had close to him, and glad to still be alive in his Eorzea, his home. The memories of the past are just that.. memories. Closely settling into his heart, his mind clear and sharp for the present and future tasks at hand! Onward to Ishgard!

SO yeah lol, quite a long read. I know SOME of it is quite a stretch, but since I still identify Marik coming from Vana'diel into Eorzea this was how I could make Marik into an Au Ra and still have him be from Vana'diel. Lodestone has some of Marik's back-story if you need a small lesson in XI's past ^.^

And Thanks to the Shantotto FATE and event for allowing Vana'diel x Eorzea cross dimension actual canon!

I never really had a backstory for when I was a Moonkeeper besides "moonkeeper from the Twelveswood who moved to Gridania" but inspired by the naming conventions and that the Auri aren't native to Eorzea, I've actually come up with one for my "reborn" character.

    Awayuki was born in Eorzea.

Awayuki’s father Yukishiro was the scribe for a Doman official. “Daisho” meaning scribe. His brother was an apprentice to a bookkeeper for a large merchant group. When the official was killed in the war, the Garleans started hunting down his household for reasons Awayuki does not know (although her Dad does). Awayuki’s uncle was able to arrange to smuggle his brother and family to Eorzea. Her mother, Chihiro, was pregnant with her.

Her entire family survived the trip, although her mother’s health was adversely affected. They eventually settled in one of the villages in the Black Shroud. She has one sibling, an older sister Narumi, who is old enough to remember Doma and the life they had and can be a bit bitter about it. Her father’s skills as a Doman scribe are not very marketable in the Shroud and the family’s financial hardship, combined with her mother’s poor health, inspired Awayuki to become an Adventurer and study conjurery to improve her family’s lifestyle.

Despite getting side tracked by the Echo, the Calamity, two Legatus, a half dozen primals, Ascians and politicians she has done a fairly good job at meeting her goals. Although, if anymore Elezen mages try to catapult her five years into future she is going to set them on fire.
