so in one thread a bunch of people complain about how its unfair to make "end game gear" that is too hard for normal players to achieve and that the entire game should be slanted to casuals so that any person can get any gear.

And then in this thread people complain that they should be able to do hard stuff and get gear that makes them stronger......

so either, no one wants any challenge in this game and wants -every- raid to be easy
or these boards are hardcore bipolar

(honestly i think people with extreme views are really the only people who post)

And by vanity gear i mean gear that you wear over whatever armor you have. Some high-demand examples may be:
    • angel wings
    • cute moogle wings
    • dresses
    • tuxedos
    • demon armor
    • magitek armor
    • Garlean judge armor
    • Goblin costume
    • Ixali costume
    • etc
They could either do it so you equip the gear and it is diplayed instead of your main gear, or create scrolls that let you enchant any item in the game to make it look like the corresponding scroll's gear. So you could you're favourite tri-materia'd haubergeon but make it look like garlean judge armor.

Could also add in little special things like if you wear and ixali costume they won't agro you. Or if you wear a Garlean judge armor random Garlean npc's will kneel when you walk past.

This would create a seriously strong incentive to do the challenging endgame content, while allowing all players to take part in the "game play."
Alright. Calm down, Mrs. Ragnarok Online.

Why does every one of your threads make me want to light myself on fire and jump out a window?

I honestly want it to be a hard game inside and out. As for those other "bi-polar" hardcores, those are probably people who say they want hard content in order to try and stretch their epeen to make it look bigger, then, they want ger to be easy to get so they can reflect what they posted on and add an extension to their epeen. Little do they know, their dick sizes are still the 1.2 inches that we all laughably talk about. TO make it all make sense, they want to seem like interwebz tough guys by saying they want hard content, then they cry when it gets too hard because they want epic gear to be easy.

I know these things because my 1 gil is worth more than your 1 gil.

Hell the f*** no. Maybe some optional or easy mode bosses with a low drop rate, but not as the end-goal of the dungeon. Dungeons should be about growing your character.

Simply No! Crafted Gears Should Have The Best Vanity! And Raids Should Be The Best Statted For Partying.

Many if not all of those items seem like things you would buy out of a cash shop. I would rather see effort translate into character strength. If anything, I would like to see vanity items unlocked via achievements, that way, you can really "show off" what you have done.

Technically there is already a lot of vanity gear (Templar's Helmet, for example). Tons of stuff has always been worthless and only worn for the visual appeal.

There's a lot they can do with vanity items, but I just hope it doesnt become tacky.

Also, there's nothing wrong with raid gear being good, but it would be unwise to make it better than everything else ever released.

Anyway, I only wish that they make raids just drop materials instead of ready-to-wear gear. It's stupid making crafters so irrelevant and having raid gear not be HQ-able.

From the sounds of the new materia system, crafters are way more relevant than I am comfortable with.

To OP: Not just no, but hell no.

I want dungeon dropped gear to be every bit as relevant as 5 slotted materia gear. I'm not even asking that it be better than materia gear, just as good as it. Now thats not to say all dungeon gear should be. I think it might be nice to have some less hard dungeons for people that might not want as big of a challenge, and then the drops from those dungeons being lesser armors like the equivalent of 1 slotted materia gear. I also think that things like artifact armor should just be quests with a NM and treasure coffers in deep dark places like in FFXI. And of course they would be good job/class specific ra/ex armor but not nearly as powerful as 5 slotted materia gear. Save the really awesome ra/ex gear for the insanely hard dungeons. I guess my point would be to have plenty of non-crafted armor options of differing "power", and let those options be ballanced against the materia crafted gear.

    Something like:
normal crafted gear = normal dropped ra/ex gear(if there ever is any)
HQ crafted gear = easy OW NM drops
1 slot materia gear = low challenge dungeon ra/ex gear
2 slot materia gear = ra/ex Artifact gear
3 slot materia gear = ra/ex medium challenge dungeon gear
4 slot materia gear = ra/ex Hard challenge dungeon gear
5 slot materia gear = ra/ex Relic gear(make it require completion of multiple hard PvE objectives, and not able to be bought even partially. Like having to beat every OW NM and like the first 10 dungeons and complete all quests, etc etc.)

It wouldnt have to be exactly like that, the example above was just a for instance. The important part is reaching a ballance between those that want crafted gear and those that want non-crafted gear.

I think Vanity items are things that should be dropped in high level raids, but as an on-the-side "awesome" you get for doing it.

However, I feel like if I beat an incredibly hard dungeon and/or raid-style content, I should be rewarded with gear that reflects such achievements.

If I ended up beating the Black Wolf himself, I wouldn't want something that only "looks" cool, I want something that helps my character excel in it's abilities further than it did before I went in. Don't get me wrong, I love aesthetics in video games, I really do. I have outfits for my character because I like to look cool when standing around town, but those types of things should be on the side that most people don't really aim for, but you're happy to have when you do get it.

Insulting people in the counter argument isn't going to change their minds. It will make them stick harder to their opinion regardless of whether or not it's right, and think less of your opinion simply because you insulted them. In essence, if you want to try and change someone's mind, come up with a well thought-out response and don't be a dick.
