The turret is exactly that - a Turret.
It has no sentience. All it does is follow your aether (Basically what your bullets are made of) and tracks whatever your bullets hit, which is why it will shoot only when you use a Weaponskill and will shoot whatever you used that weaponskill on.

They're not helicopters, so moving around on their own would be difficult to say the least.
