New ranged LBs

Does anyone else think that they still won't be used? Melee has the single target, high potency lb. BLMs have the aoe one covered. I just don't see a middle damage straight line missable LB getting any real use in full parties unless the potency was the same as the Melee ones.

They're useful in Dungeons when you have two ranged physical DPS in the party. Before that meant no LB at all. And in cases where there's a caster and a ranged physical DPS, the ranged character is going to do more damage on a single target using their LB than the caster will. So no, it's probably not going to be the go-to for raid situations, but there are uses in some content.

Yeah, the first two levels will be used in dungeons. I'm talking about full parties. I just don't see the point in having cool, individual level 3 limit breaks if they're almost never going to be used.

hmmm melee for single , mage for aoe , and Ranged for boss + adds lined up ...to be fair the ranged LB should get a boost (10% ~ ) since there is a position requeriment

They are useful against bosses with adds. Tank clusters them and Ranged DPS wipes out the adds and still damages the boss.

From the couple times I've seen it used, it's a fairly wide line attack. I'd say something is going wrong if you're missing with it significantly. And, it fits the classes better than a healer limit break, in lore if not utility.

I think you just need to accept that the opportunity to use it may be less than that of a melee DPS, just as if you were a caster.

I'm wondering if there might be some "Romeo and Juliet" (have to kill both at around same time)-style fights coming in the new raid(s) that might benefit from a long line LB. Imagining a fight where you have to keep them really far apart but they need to die at same time.

It takes forever to test, but from what myself and a few friends have seen (by running the same dungeon over and over), the damage relationship is Melee LB > Ranged LB > Caster LB in terms of damage, which is pretty fair since it follows the paradigm of Most restrictive -> Least restrictive.

That certainly seems balanced to me.

You default to melee LB.
If all adds are stacked close enough or linear, use ranged LB.
Otherwise use caster LB.
