IS main quest Double XP on yet? how does this work? (for a friend)

My friend is trying to lvl up to get to me and heavenward, but i thought we got a lot more XP now to lvl up really fast on the main story? but he told me he got very little from doing a quest just now and now he is not the right lvl to do the next one.

Is this not activated till the 23rd or something?

it is active for 1 - 50 yes I can confirm as I was surprised to have levelled a brand new character so quickly earlier. This doesnt mean that your friend will be able to skip out altogether on grinds/dungeon runs though.

I think you are talking about the armoury bonus.

If this is the case then you have to get a character up to level 50 first before it is in effect. They have doubled the armoury bonus from 50% to 100% for characters under 50. Post 50 you have to get one character to 60 before you see a 50% armoury bonus on other jobs post 50.

i thought it said so u could get to 50 with only main story?

They were increased, I don't believe they were actually doubled though.

Wrong. The armory bonus applies to any job lower than your highest regardless of it being 50 or not.

Who would do that? Why would they make you not get the bonus on the one and only time a character would do the MSQs, the first time through?

Once you have done them on a character they are gone, so sub classes get nothing, seems like a way to just not give the bonus to me.

Or does it affect other characters that you start as alts? If that's the case it about as useless as the other method.

Armory bonus affects kills and fates. It's so that you can get alt classes leveled easily after exhausting the main quest (and some side quests) on your primary class. It's not meant to be in effect when leveling the first time.
