What I mean by leave you hanging as it starts you out with adventure quests and when you complete them it doesn't really give you any more direction of what or where to go. I was just like ok... I guess I'll go like grind stuff to 50. This isn't a big deal to me as FFXI was a lot worse in the way it gave you no direction at all. But can see this as being confusing for people that are new to MMORPG's.

By "WoW like" I mean combat is a lot of skill spamming. I just spam reg. atk and then my TP atk every so often. I haven't played to 50 and haven't gone far. But from playing and watching videos it seems that there is no real tactics in the game, besides just pushing some buttons, and if I die no big deal because I just get a rez sickness for a short time and go do it all over again. Actually it's pretty easy to just disengage and run away from a mob and not die at all.

FFXI is actually pretty tough, you had to play your class and know what you're doing because if you don't you're dead and losing XP. I don't know when you played or how far you got, but before level syncing it actually took skill to play. Losing 10% of your XP mattered a big deal after 40+. That is why people learned to play the game and stopped sucking and got good at the game, because no one wants to lose xp. The problem in WoW is that there is no real consequence in dying, which is why so many people are level 85 and still suck at the game.

These are only some of the problems, and I'm not going to write a 10 page forum on what is wrong with the game. I hope the game can be fixed and flourish, but IMO of how fast MMORPG's and computing develops. I just don't see that happening in a timely matter. It's just my opinion not a fact, but I hope I'm wrong; because I would really like to like this game.
