Help with gear

Hello guys

I had a long break and now I'm back and I have a question to DoH/DoL experts here.
I have full overmelded lvl50 gear with my crafter.
So should I use this gear till lvl55 or should I get the bis gear from the main game and overmeld it with all my money?

Use your current gear and leves to level up. You won't be able to craft any of the new stuff since there are hardly any mats available. Take the lvl 45 leves and repeat.

That just use up much needed leve allowances. I would instead suggest crafting 1* materials for a level or two. Its best to level either botanist or mining as well, as few materials are available currently.

Probably best to level the gathering classes first. You can make a lot of gil selling the new ores and logs and there's nothing worth crafting at 60 anyway.

If you can craft any 1star recipe then no. Do what Aeyis said for the first 2 levels. Then from 53 to 55, use leves. At level 53, you will get a quest that will give you an off-hand tool and at level 55, a quest that will give you a primary tool.

So there is no need to get the DoH/DoL gear from mor cause they wont upgrade them anymore or did I understand it wrong?
Is it possible to gather in the new areas without completing the main story? I'm at the ramuh fight at the moment so it will take some time until I finished the main story.

It is not possible to enter any of the new areas befor completing the 2.55 story.

yeah, it sucks that a lot of stuff are gated by the story
