Exactly, it's a statistical minefield.

You have to employ a lot of techniques to get valid data. And unfortunately, the poll in the OP was conducted on a poor choice of sample population.

Ok statistics major talking here lets get down to brass tacks. The poll is a questionnaire to ffxiv gamers, that is obvious as it is posted on the forums where only active account holders can know about it. This post is not misrepresenting popular opinions of the players. The players are the ones voting. People who quit the game have no bearing on the questions. This poll isn't attempting to ask questions to the majority of the world. You wouldn't poll people in war torn Uganda on their opinions over the Greek nations riots.

Considering this server only has 619 copleted serveys compulated (which can be redone, so it could have repeat offenders) is a very small demographic of players.......So its hard to make any truth out of it.

The only way there will ever be any accurate information polled for SE is if they require you to complete the poll as part of the log in screen forcing full participation. A majority of the players never visit this or any other game forums. Not to mention, most here only interact with there little corner of the world and have no idea of what those speaking other languages think.

Each survey is allowed to be taken only once. You can however, return to the survey and change your answers. I set it up this way on purpose so people can change their minds if they choose. Hitting the submit button more than once does not add additional responses.

Although you are correct, 600 responses is not nearly the entire playerbase. The survey has only been up for 1 day though. I'm sure more people will respond over time. The poll will stay open until I decide to close it, or until this thread gets locked.

In all honesty its not hard for someone just following the game to look up some new gameplay vids or read up on patches to form opinions on what is new. The game has changed yes, but it isnt soooo different that you cant experience most of the changes within 5 minutes of logging on (except dungeons) but for those you can watch gameplay vids.

most people just arent happy enough to play this game and honestly its our opinions that dont matter much...who cares about the people who still play? at whatever rate they play. The future players and the past ones who left are whose opinions matter most cause im not convinced this population can keep the game alive once it goes p2p. but again i dont think this is the fault of the op at all. Its SE fault for promoting a biased censored forum for their game. My whle point is that everyone paid the box price for the game. why do some have more rights then others?

but you see they can though. You are fooling yourself if you feel the changes have been that profound that you cant passively follow them. The only thing you would truely need to have hands on with to truely feel the changes would be the UI. and even that u can get a rough enough idea to have an opinion through patch notes and player videos.

Im not asking non-players to comment on a game they don't play.

I'm merely explaining why the poll results will obviously produce the results which they have evidently already produced.

Not true.. Only active players can post. Anybody can read. which means anybody can see the link and go to it.

I have attempted to post this survey in the japanese forums using google translator. I don't know how effective that thing is, but hopefully they will understand it.

Although the survey is also in english, I hope they can translate it with their web browser. At least this way I have given them a chance to participate. Also I know there are a lot of japanese players who can understand english fairly well anyway!
