Was just curious how to get new entry's into gathering log in heavensward. Next quest isn't until 53. Any info appreciated.

Hit level 51 and it'll open up your 51-55 nodes. You can do leves in ishgard once you progress a little into the main story (about 30 mins, not sure how many unnecessary MSQ I did, but "The Better Half" was not progression enough)
I haven't gotten very far outside of the Ishgard area, but haven't seen any nodes yet? Where do the new nodes start, are they the 51-55 you're talking about?
Same, was wondering that too makes sense I need to get to lvl51 for it to log. I was confused because my Crafters all showed 51-55 recipes at lvl50 so thought bot/min would be the same way.
I had the same issue. There are no level 50 nodes in the sea of clouds. However for both botanist and miner you can find find a single type of level 50 node in western coerthas. You can use those + leves to level to 51, at which point you will get access to the 51-55 nodes in heavensward. Most of those are located in western coerthas.
There are lvl 50 nodes for botany and mining just south of town in corethas west. Botany is cedar branch and cedar log. Mining is dragon obsydian. They give about the same do as northern thanalan and the points, although ther are 6 of them, are way spread out. I would recommend just gathering them once then return to NT ( mining) and ST (botany) till you hit 51. Then return to corethas west.
