    Rainbow Pride barding

A significant influence on the level of acceptance in a community is how publicly members of that community declare their acceptance. If someone has a rainbow pride flag on display, other community members feel social pressure to avoid homophobic slurs, and feel less pressure to conform to standard gender roles.

FFXIV is already a very accepting community, on the whole. On occasions, however, players will say something that is somewhat surprising. I personally don't think it's malicious, but a lot of people still use 'gay' as an insult. Its probably just a bad habit but it would still be great to change that.

So lets have Rainbow Pride chocobo barding. No need to make it lore in any way, everyone knows what it means already. Why would we not want rainbows on our chocobos?

I agree with the sentiment but it won't happen. They're not keen on 'political statements' in game. Yes, I know the whole history of the Pride Flag but it's still seen as political activism by some.

Yeah not anytime soon anyway. SE chose to call the ingame marriage Eternal Bond to avoid the conversation, while at the same time showing some measure of acceptance. I think this may be a step further than they are willing to go atm.

That said, personally I fully support the idea. In my fc we are proud to celebrate equality. Not to unintentionally out anyone, we have several LGBT members, including ranking officers. All of whom I consider friends deserving of this kind of acceptance.

I'd rather that players get the ability to style their own barding, to make rainbow barding or skull barding or anything really. That way more people are included in this action. It seems too preferential for our group of humans to get barding when other types do not. I appreciate the sentiment, of course. And if we can't make individualized barding someday, I would want to see rainbow barding down the road. But not rainbow barding specifically out of pride. We can choose to use it as a sort of pride barding, though!

The more people who feel included by an idea, the better, I'd say.

    Be well.

Is this really necessary? We don't need this kind of thing in game.

And why do gay people always feel the need to be 'loud and proud'. You're gay. You're not special. Get over it.

Also from my experience the majority of people using 'gay' as an insult are homosexual themselves.

    It's a symbol that carries too much of a political/ideological standing. I can't imagine they'd do it.

Typically as a way of 'combating' discrimination. Some people want them to feel ashamed for what they are. 'Here and Queer' campaigns are to show people that they refuse to be ashamed.

If I asked for a "Proud to be Straight!" barding I think people would be mad xD

Actually .. that should be "Proud to be Normal!" ... whether "normal" means gay or straight is open to interpretation of the viewer! I say that with full recognition that despite the abnormality of being gay (last figure I heard, less than 5% of Americans are gay, which puts being gay significantly outside the societal norm) every gay person, male and female, who has voiced an opinion on the subject says that being gay is normal for him or her.
