Gamepad or Keyboard&Mouse ???

This is something that has been bugging me since i started playing this game, which is better to use gamepad or keyboard & mouse.

Whislt they each have upsides and downsides iv found myself kinda using a combination of the 2. While in theory this sounds like a good idea it gets a bit confusing when your in the middle of a fight and need to switch quickly.

Another thing iv noticed while using the gamepad is that im standing there cycling through targets trying to get the right one whilst the rest of my party is already attacking andby the time iv found it its already dead.

Any advice on these issues would be greatly appreciated.

I played FFXI exclusively with a keyboard.
I used a key mapper to map the keys in this game to simulate the FFXI keyboard, but the key mapper kept bugging out so I finally resigned to just cope with the mouse / keyboard combination. It is still frustrating because things you would expect, like hold both mouse buttons to run, do not work, but it will suffice for the time being.

Overall you should do whatever feels most comfortable. Try out all the different ways to play and see which one suits you the best.

It took me a while to get used to, since I played FFXI with keyboard and mouse, but I play strictly by keyboard these days.

People always forget the keyboard-only option when asking questions like these. :P I find it cumbersome to try to use mouse, it's a lot faster for me to do everything from the keyboard. Don't even have a controller for PC, and I'm rather certain I'd find it a lot more cumbersome than even the kb+mouse system, a lot more switching there since you can't type from the controller. So yeah, if you haven't tried keyboard-only control system you might want to give it a go, see if it fits you.

Because it's about individual tastes. Me playing with a gamepad doesn't affect how other people play the game.

While me using anima to teleport instead of walking everywhere....waaait a minute....

Any variation of the keyboard and mouse is likely a better set up for you. I have a Naga, so it makes it even better.

Controller requires too much paddling to access the abilities.
