The side quests grant you 24000 exp a chunk at 50. A FATE in the area grants you 14000 exp at 50. The side quests takes 5-10 minutes of running around. FATES now take 5+ minutes to complete due to difficulty. Quests are actually a better exp/time reward right now than FATES, until more people have the gear needed to mow through them.
