Questions about heavensward

I'm a new player level 19 right now, should I buy it or is it only worth when im level 50?

As a new player myself, I've chosen to wait to purchase HW. As far as I'm aware, there's just no reason you have to purchase it until you have completed the main storyline quests up to and including the patch 2.55 content at 50 unless you want to play the new race OR one of the new classes (but there are requirements to be met before you can play one of the new classes anyway, and you can't do those until you're level 30 I believe).

Much of the content that must be done at 50 requires groups to do it, as well as a minimum gear level. Some of the later story quests now reward gear to help with that part, but you still have to get a group to do it. Groups seem plentiful ATM, but how long that will last is anyone's guess. That's the part that prompted me to wait to purchase, since if getting a group for the required content is difficult, that could put a halt on getting to the new content at all.

You can't obtain the new classes until you reach Ishgard, which requires the 2.55 Main Story Quests be completed.

Also, my daughter read on another site today--probably that gamefaqs one--that if you do purchase and register HW, you will get xp for everything you do at level 50, even if it's content from the main game or the patches up to 2.55. I don't know how much xp that amounts to relative to how much you need to level to 51, but that was another reason that I didn't purchase the xpac yet. I didn't want to be ahead in levels going into the new content.

The only real reason to get Heavensward is if you want to start off as Au'Ra from the start. There really is no other benefit, unless you happen to have a 25% coupon or something you absolutely have to use now. I don't think we'll have a price cut for 2 months at least given the game's popularity.
