I am going to level ast after I get scholar to 60.While I am not playing Dark Knight.
I have found astrologian heals underwhelming in Heavensward, given after multiple runs of dungeons and trials, pretty much the only 2 failures have been astrologian heal output. Does that class really heal as potently as the WHM or scholar?
Granted even still it's not a particularly big deal given these issues were player made more then class.
There are multiple people playing dark knight right now, I'll presume this is partially coincidence.
However it's heals seem stronger than SCH but it doesn't have the offset capacity a scholar has. So it is a better healer but doesn't have the debuffs.

Their heals are baseline less potent. using whm comparisons since I don't have nocturnal sect yet.
cure 400 benefic 380 medica2 200/100 regen aspected helios 140/50 regen
cure2 650 benefic2 620 medica 300 helios 290 whispering dawn o intital/100 regen
so compared to sch, physick is same as cure. the sch spells with shields are slightly weaker than whm versions but shields are considered better than raw healing generally. I will hopefully have nocturnal sect tomorrow (had to log at 49, its killing me).
emergency heal is good though. baseline 400 potency (so same as a normal cure which sounds small) but instant, no mana, and increases potency the more heath the target is missing.
Another thing I would like to note is I don't have any aoe dmg yet. looks like the first aoe is at 52 in Gravity. by now whm has holy, and sch had bane ages ago, plus miasma2 and gets shadowflare at 50. Really noticeable in DD.
Ahhh, yes I see and agree. A lot of that seems to be regen oriented... I don't know if I love or hate that.
Perhaps in combination with a WHM or Scholar that could be quite effective, probably scholar because of the shields.
I am going to level AST after scholar, I want to see it more for myself before making any final judgements. Number wise AST don't seem too far off WHM.
Diurnal stance gives AST increased cast speed, while Nocturnal stance gives them 5% healing buff, effectively closing the potency gap. I haven't had much time at 50 but I've yet to have issues with healing throughput, and only resort to Benefic II spam when the tank overpulls.Their heals are baseline less potent. using whm comparisons since I don't have nocturnal sect yet.

Most DRK I've run into have been competent, with one exception of an overeager low level tank that AoE pulled in Brayflox without CD's.
Right, so as to say that an average DRK is about as good as another average tank, bads will be bads regardless. Not fully understanding the DRK toolkit myself yet, I've encountered a precious few, likely PLD or WAR mains, that have a really good handle on self healing and mitigation on DRK.
Really? I've run with plenty of DrKs ever since I started on my Astro at level 30 and, honestly, they're some of the easier tanks Ive healed in a long time.
