Honestly, it seems like you're not listening to all the counter arguments. If the other dps can cover the adds, even during progression, then there is no harm for you to ignore the adds and continue on the boss. This makes it so overall raid dps is higher since you won't be losing casts. If you still want to "not gonna ignore mechanics bro", then you really need to coordinate with your team so you don't lose casts during adds. Something simple as marking the add that you are casting on to let your team know you got it covered is a start.

Because you can ignore mechanics doesn't mean you have to ignore them. This is a really bad habit. My team would tell me to shut up and kill the adds. Makes sense since it's a DPS check.

I have to say this once again it seems. I pointed it in a progression scenario, gear or not shouldn't matter. In farm, it won't matter because you are farming it. In progression, it does even if they can clear it without you. Because you have not clear the fight yet. This is an unnecessary stress for your group. Performances and success > DPS in progression. I'm all ears about numbers on farm content. I have been going crazy in FCoB with numbers on farm content But I can tell you my first T13 clear I was in the range of 470-480 DPS as BLM which is low. But I dealt with mechanics and lived with it.

And to come back to the main argument which is SMN vs BLM in progression. SMN deals with mechanics a lot easier than BLM and they have the same DPS. So the choice is obvious for a group aiming to clear. If you run with friends and you play wte you want, go ahead and play BLM. But ignoring mechanics to get more DPS should never be a thing UNLESS you actually hit the enrage and you were missing DPS which I assume it did not happen for anyone.

    *EDITS*

I mean guys. If you trully have too much dps for adds. Why don't you let your melee stick on the boss and let the ranged and the caster deal with them without having your melee move. They have higher DPS so it's only smart to give them priority if you are looking for bigger numbers.

Ok, I've been reading this thread and while I do 100% agree with what you said here, I (personally) am not going to rule BLM out when it comes to progression until Alexander is out and we can actually see what it's like in those instances.

Also, different raid groups work in different ways so I don't think it's right to assume anyone is causing any issue in their raid group if everyone in the group knows what's happening and is okay with it.

Yes BLM is kind of iffy right now in content but they will make changes and (hopefully) fix some of the current issues.
