Yeah..did you notice what your 'Connection' was rated in the upper right of the screen on character select? the brief times i was on today it was rated 'Poor' rather than the usual 'Excellent' i think that may not just indicate your connection to the Data Center but its connection to you (no they are not the same) Which leads me to believe the Data Centers are bogged down due to excessive traffic for their capabilities. Likeliness it will be fixed? - No. Will it go away? - Probably once enough people give up and un-sub again.

The ones in Japan/EU are rated poor, but mine actually still says Excellent for some reason despite it not being? lol

Well I don't think its anything on your end, if benchmark said you were fine, you should be, and the issues you described sound like server/data center side issues, you can take solace in the fact that you are not alone in these times of woe, you could always play other MMORPG's like that one called: Real Life, I hear the graphics are awesome but its a pay-to-win, and oh god the micro transactions...but take that one in strides =)
