Okay thanks I'll give it some more practice ^_^For the most part, yes. Its worth delaying blood for blood to line up with wildfire, rapid fire, and hawk eye. The 2nd wildfire will not line up with reload and will rely on procs for heavy damage.. However, poping it right away should allow your 3rd wildfire to line up with your 4th reload for heavy damage.
Is GB only worth using at 60? I'm only level 53 and so far it seems like a substantial DPS loss...
At 53 it may benefit from stance dancing... Shot + auto attack > Shot + GB ... However, you will want GB on EVERY TIME you use lead shot and up for as many gauss rounds as possible. At 60, ricochet adds a nice chunk of DPS. At 60, the down time between using ricochet, lead shot, and gauss round is so small that its really not worth the complexity to stance dance. Just remember, the strongest potency attack in the MCH arsenal is lead shot, so its a must to have GB on for that.
I just did a few tests on a dummy and it's definitely not a DPS gain. Best case is it is not a loss...! I'll try again when I get Gauss Round (54?) otherwise I'll wait till 60.At 53 it may benefit from stance dancing... Shot + auto attack > Shot + GB ... I must admit as a relatively new player (played up to 30 in ARR) who picked up HW solely for Machinist I'm a little disappointed =(
Yeah, gauss round is at 54 and it adds a 180 potency attack every 20 seconds. The job doesn't really feel complete until you hit 60 and get hypercharge & ricochet. At 53, I would suggest using it for your opening lead shot and taking it off. However, that is against single target. Always use GB for AOEsI just did a few tests on a dummy and it's definitely not a DPS gain. Best case is it is not a loss...! I'll try again when I get Gauss Round (54?) otherwise I'll wait till 60.

I keep seeing everyone go back and forth between stance dancing and GB always on. I'm so confused atm lol.
Even if there is a gain, its probably so small that it isn't worth the extra complexity. Fact remains that: shot + AA > shot + GB. Once Ricochet, gauss round, and lead shot are used, there may be an opportunity to take advantage of those AAs. But again, there may only be 5-10 seconds between skills to drop GB for those AAs. Just doesn't seem that those few seconds will really change the overall dps.
Is this even true anymore? Correct me if I'm wrong after patch Clean Shot + GB does more damage than + AA, doesn't it?
For example Hive Muskatoon AA = 57.2
When Clean Shot is used, total potency + AA = 200 + 57.2 = 257.2
With GB is on, total potency = 200*1.3 = 260
