My gut/intuition tells me that Crit/Det will be the way to go, minimizing Skill Speed.

Just like BRD, too much Skill Speed & we can no longer 2x buff in a single oGCD.

Critical will surely have a soft-cap too before it begins to dip in effectiveness, as is the nature of the stat.

We gun sling out abilities so rapidly too that I perceive Crit/Det to be king with MCH.

Also to consider is our innately low potency values.

MCN has awful natural crit rate which is why I also believe that DET will be its main stat as well. The main reason I say Crit being the next best secondary stat is one for the reason you said about skill speed but also the increased crit damage now received with the stat.

Dont forget that with the Reassemble, this devalues crit.

Didn't they rework Crit to also increase the damage of your crits? Det is probably still strongest but crit probably has more merit than you're giving it credit for I think

Not sure, I am just talking about crit chance. With Reassemble, machinist already have a certain base crit rate, which in itself.. devalues crit.
Now if crit rate increases crit damage, thats something else entirely.

I'm also wondering if anyone knows math on skill speed and if this will effect our Guass Barrell cast timers on split shot and if that stat will then become more important? Currently i'm 52 almost 53 and i see 0 reason to use GB unless I Rapid fire - GB - Slug - ressemble - clean - turn off. I know this can change once you get more abilities, but the more i read, it seems like somthing is missing all abilities from 50-60 almost invovle the GB mechanics and yet it's very underwhelming when you think these skills should be your top skills.

Now that is an interesting idea. With enough skill speed could you not make the cast times on most gauss moves more manageable? That would be of course at the expense of crit, and of course it would cut into the GCD bit the confirmed damage over crit reliance... but then they also changed the crit modifier to effect the damage made by a crit. does anyone know if gauss barrels 20% damage increase works on lead shots dot?

Not sure if it's just me but does anyone else feel like their damage is low? I have tried gauss barrel, no gauss, and rapid fire dancing. I just do not feel like my numbers are there. Especially compared to warriors.

Yesterday at 52 I managed to hit 1.5k on a gelato outside Dusk Vigil, but this was a gauss barrel reassembled cleaner shot (quick reload on slug shot to ensure the proc). But so far in dungeons monks and black mages have far outparsed me with turret damage included.
I'm hoping it's just getting used to the rotation or that things will improve at 60.

Wasn't it confirmed that parsers are broken for the new jobs? I wouldn't trust them for now.
