I cannot adequately express the level of frustration that has been this evening in my attempts to access my server and my friends for the past 4 hours. No, you cannot have my patience, and you cannot have my understanding. The server capacity issue should have been addressed months ago, at the very least in preparation for the expansion, but we are still being forced to deal with a sub par data center set up. Meanwhile, the influx of players into the over capacity servers simply continue to rise because people want to play with their friends. The more people on one server, the more friends they will bring with them. Entire companies are unable to buy housing without jumping through atrocious hoops, servers are locked down for character creation for weeks at a time, and now the expansion has caused an all out lockout. It's like paying for a regularly scheduled headache.

I get your frustration cause I'm pretty irritated at this but blaming other players isn't the answer nor are they the ones responsible. SE is the administrator here. Blame falls square on their shoulders and no one else.

We had nothing to do with any decision of locking us from transferring off the server at 2.0 launch, the issues with transferring afterwards (gil, friends, etc.) or what datacenter Balmung was put on. We can't log on either because of the way this is/was being handled by SE. I get your frustrations, but point them elsewhere.

The big problem is the overpopulation and congestion, but right now the main problem is specifically with the players. Right now all the players on 2 (most likely full) servers are preventing access to every other server's lobby. The two high population servers are not intentionally meaning to, but they're basically DDOSing the data center and preventing the other players on the other servers from reaching their lobby server and entering the game. It's like if 5 restaurants are inside a building with one door and almost all of the people coming in want just one of those restaurants and block up the door trying to get their food basically choking out any customers wanting the other restaurants.

If you're on Balmung or Gilgamesh and you're getting the error then:
1) stop slamming the data center trying to get in and blocking players from the other servers
2) wait a bit and try again
3) call, email, and forum blast them to fix it.

You're not doing yourself or anyone else any good slamming your requests to the data center blocking everyone else in the hopes that you get to wait in line for a few more hours on the lobby server to enter your actual server.

This is absolutely false. The majority of the playerbase doesn't have the time/patience/whatever to sit for hours re-entering their credentials like some do. Those people, which constitute the bulk of the potential load, have already stopped attempting to log in. Already only a small fraction of the amount of players who are interested in playing right now are even trying to get in.

If you're on Balmung or Gilgamesh and you're getting the error then...

The lobby errors are from Aether's load, not from Balmung and Gilgamesh. Yes, Aether is congested because it's housing the two most popular servers, but players from every server on Aether attempting to log in all contribute equally to the same load that's killing Aether, regardless of which server within Aether they're going to end up logging into.

Gilgamesh is a new server from the launch of 2.0. It is NOT a legacy server. It was impossible to know the 2 most populated NA servers would be on Aether. If they had locked transfers, people would be complaining. They didn't lock transfers, people are complaining. SE can't win here.

What's bad is that a lot of newer players like me on PS4 are on Jenova. It's a low pop server (maybe the lowest). Very small queues during early access 16 was the highest I saw) but this 2002 issue is due to the high pop severs we're grouped with.

So while having small queues are awesome, it doesn't even mstter if you can't even access the specific server.

I'd like to a moment to clarify the errors you're seeing when attempting to log into the Aether data center. These errors are not something to do with a bug, or unexpected problem, on the part of the lobby server or World servers. What you're seeing with these errors is a result of the massive congestion surround Balmung and Gilgamesh (two of the largest NA Worlds), which happen to be on Aether. These two Worlds maintain an almost maximum number of concurrent users because of how large the population is on both of them. The errors you're experiencing are due to the large amount of congestion.

Well it doesn't help that, in the case of Balmung, everyone and their ancestors transfer there.

I'm from Balmung and I can play everyday since the start of EA.

all you have to do is keep trying. the login server will let you pass eventually. then just hope you'll not get kicked while waiting for your queue.

Can we stop blaming balmung? Yes it sucks you have to fight to log in. Yes it sucks that some people can't get in. However none of that is balmungs problem. Blame devs or yourselves for not trying hard enough. But leave balmung out of it.
