My question is why did you put both Balmung and Gilgamesh on the same data center? What you're seeing with these errors is a result of the massive congestion surround Balmung and Gilgamesh (two of the largest NA Worlds),
While the Development and Operations teams are working to ensure that the servers are stable and doing everything they can to avoid downtime, unfortunately, this issue a result of the large populations being housed on the Aether data center.
Those were decided before they spilt the servers into different data centers about a month after 2.0 launced. Balmung was the fullest legacy server and Gilgamesh was talked about as the other RP world on the beta forums. So no.
Most likely answer: Balmung and Gilgamesh grew to those sizes after being put in the same Datacenter.
The thing with MMO launches is that if they go with the option of getting additional servers to deal with the release rush, after a couple of weeks they'll be collecting dust in a corner, not exactly the greatest of options from a business standpoint. These log-in issues suck for the players, but they'll be gone soon enough.

SO MUCH THIS.
Furthermore, can we PLEASE get a change in the client so that it doesn't kick you out of the game completely if you get an error 2002? I'm nearly to the point of removing my one time password because of how much BS it is having to put it in over and over.
Another option for addressing this issue that wouldn't require any restructuring of the network would be to allow people free transfers off of those worlds, prevent transfers to them, and possibly even a long-term lockdown of character creation on them. I know all of my friends would have no problem free transferring off Gilgamesh onto one of the smaller worlds.
I have to agree with this solution. Blizzard does this with WoW, and the playerbase typically responds very well to it. You see a large group of people leave the super high population servers and go to the "Recommended" servers that desperately need more players. This would help in a few ways, lowering congestion on high pop servers, as well as helping servers that desperately need more population get a playerbase to keep them from being shut down.Another option for addressing this issue that wouldn't require any restructuring of the network would be to allow people free transfers off of those worlds, prevent transfers to them, and possibly even a long-term lockdown of character creation on them. this would work, most likely.Another option for addressing this issue that wouldn't require any restructuring of the network would be to allow people free transfers off of those worlds, prevent transfers to them, and possibly even a long-term lockdown of character creation on them. Square, can we have an OCE fanfest now?
So no fix, no upgrade to your servers is what it boils down too. Its your fault for not being prepared....ONCE AGAINGreetings,

We truly apologize for the frustration experienced and ask for your patience and understanding.
