The reason that is a horrible idea is because that does nothing to prevent a keylogger from getting in. It also makes botters lives easier. So no.

Ideally, all SE has to do is "remember me until implicit logout or timeout", eg logging out at the inn or the menu. If the game crashes, or disconnects, or AFK-kicks, it should automatically resume without going through the launcher, main menu and character selection. But this also has the same problem as above, as someone could hijack the client-side login credentials, initiate a disconnect from the real users end and then login using their credentials... this was even pointed out back at V2.0's launch that you could pass the launcher strings to the game client and it would always work. And that is how bots login faster than real people.
