I'm not a programmer, but the games you've listed as "working better than this" are all single-player games. One would think, that it's easier to optimize memory usage for pre-scripted character models for certain areas, unlike in a massively multiplayer game, where any model can appear in any place in the game. You know, in Oblivion for example, all the town guards wear identical armors in one town, thus the game only loads one model when you enter the area.

FFXIV coding seems to have major issues and flaws, this is nothing new. The official game benchmark is considered as a joke. Nevertheless, i only brought up one solution, that satisfied my needs for smoother gameplay. I have a quad-core, SLI-enabled and all watercooled and overclocked system, and i was still stuttering in crowdy places, before i installed FFXIV to a separate SSD. Whether you spend money to upgrade your platform or not, is entirely up to you.

As an answer to your offtopic question; Yes, you can lvl all jobs with one character. You just need to buy the initial/starter tool/weapon for that class from a town npc. Currently there are no restrictions which ones you can "master", as you can grind them all to the lvlcap of 50, if you please.

Yep that's the whole reason the armory exists. Just get your mits on the starting tool/weapon of the class you want to goof around on and equip it, just that easy.

Yes it's true. They are single player games but they load a lot more stuff and larger files, both of them. The problem is that this game barelly uses VRAM and GPU power, look at the images at the bottom of the previous page.

I'm sure if it used the graphics card as it should there would be a major performance boost, generally speaking.

I have played MMORPGs such as AION, Guild Wars, Age of Conan (where AoC was another example of poor optimization, still it wasn't stutter bug bad framerate, but they fixed it, however it took some time). The only game that had stutter was AION, but ONLY when i was in a area where there were enemy players near, which honestly wasn't a bug but a feature, that way i knew there was someone with higher lvl trying to kill the opposite "faction". There were places with a LOT of players a never noticed stutter, sure the game doesn't have the same quality but there were a lot of people. In sieges there was a major framerate drop, but that's because the amount of people there was insane, again not stutter.

I think SE should really look into fix the performance of the game if they want to populate the game, because right now it's unbelievable i can't play the game even on standard with my PC. Again don't forget that this game barely uses the graphics card, dunno why.

If this team fails, most likely will be the end of the game. It's really a shame because i'm a fan of Final Fantasy for several years, and i don't feel like playing Xi because i don't like it's graphics and play style.

Anyway, i hope there's an improvement in terms of performance in the next patch.

I did not get this stutter problem until 1.18. Pre 1.18 I could be in Uldah on saturday at peak time with no lag, no stuttering, my game was running beautifully. I really don't know how pre 1.18 my game runs smooth, and post 1.18 my game runs crappy, plus everyone else is = fix it on your end. I'd like to try a SSD anyway, but for real I think they effed up something and refuse to fix it.

The load related stuttering have been here since day one, and the only way to get it under control currently is to have FF XIV on a SSD or a RAM disk.

You missed out CPU load?, and what settings were those at screens at?
(As your 570 is running a lot lower load then mine but then i'm windowed at 1920x1200, dof on, all max, Draw 8/5 and 8xAA)

I need to get in game have a poke cos if we have is new issues since 1.18 and its not the loading lag a SSD would solve I don't want to give people duff info.

Oh and you woudnt want a whole system on a SSD, SSD+HDD is a better overall solution.
But I'm not going to here explaining why an derail the thread. (+ i need some sleep)

Looking at some comments i have to disagree. I'm in Uldah as well.

Unfortunately i don't know how to put CPU load in the image, AIDA64 has it but when i get to the game it disappears even with the always on top option selected.

As for the SSD i totally would want it for my whole system: http://img.hexus.net/v2/SSD/OCZ/RevoDriveX2/cdm-big.jpg

Speaking from personal experience, I had the load related stuttering when running FF XIV (as well as all other games) off of a raid 0 setup of WD Raptor disks.
After replacing the mechanical HDDs for an SSD I no longer suffer from loading lag in populated areas.

Well, if i'd buy an SSD would need to be for the whole system, like i said before.

And if id'd buy one would be the OCZ RevoDrive X2 because it's PCIe, i prefer PCIe because if i'd get one that is SATA2 it would be in disadvantage because i'm thinking to upgrade Q1 2012 to the newer CPUs. So the motherboards would be SATA3 and i wouldn't be getting the full performance, anyway... i had to buy at least the 480GB one so it can hold Windows and some of my Steam games. Because honestly windows is also slow starting and sometimes shutting down.

The problem is that the OCZ RevoDrive X2 480GB SSD costs 1400 in my country. :P

I can get an SSD of 60GB for 70, but i'm not getting it just because it's faster and for a single game only due to bad optimization, which honestly is what's happening. Like i said before this is the only game that does this. And looking at some comments it seems to happen with a lot of people after patch 1.18. And again, i'm not buying an SSD just because of a single game.

The stuttering doesn't bother me. I expect it in crowded areas. That's just me though!
