From what I recall, this request eventually made its way to a LL response, to which SE replied, "We will consider adding [blue flames] when new abilities are introduced."

Regarding the dark knight "Darkside" effect from the job video
Originally there was a dark flame-like effect added to the feet of the dark knight while under "Darkside," and while this was a cool effect, unfortunately while testing in various situations, such as while mounted, it looked unnatural and we adjusted it to what it is currently. However, when we add in new actions we may add this effect back in.

BRING THE BLACK FLAMES!!! Also bring back Scourge weaponskill, have it use 3.x Delirium animation and combo off of Syphon Strike but have its potency and Dark Arts Potency be 3.x Souleater potency and Dark Arts potency, while also having its Dark Arts effect be 5% magic damage down debuff
This is currently also being discussed in the JP forums, and I think someone there brought up a good point in that it would be nice if we received some type of black flames that increased based on the amount of Black Blood we have.
I honestly thought it would be put in the game JUST BASED ON THE GAUGE WE GOT. Black Blood, Black flames when we get 50+ gauge, gets even crazier with 100. They wouldn't give us the excuse of it looking weird on mounts anymore because of how going into a new instance works
If WAR can have an obnoxious IR aura with glowing eyes of murder they have no excuse to not give DRK a black flame aura.
Easy. Inner Release isn't an on-demand skill: it requires spending resources and has a hefty cooldown, so it's not there all the time. DRK is trying to get 100% uptime for darkside, and that gets old really fast.
Some of the effects they discussed a couple years ago would be great for Blood Gauge I think:
