Being blocked from data center.

Before I get flamed, hear me out. All kinds of people from various servers/data centers are unable to connect. And yes, this happens every time in an MMORPG that there is an expansion. Understood.

My problem is this: How is it possible, that I CAN connect, to ANY data center but the ONE I have a character on? When I try to connect to any other data center, it logs on. INSTANTLY. When I try connecting to mine (Aether), it takes about 20 seconds, and then gives me an error code which automatically crashes my game. Obviously this is being done on purpose. I'm being blocked from playing. If it were just a congestion issue, I would be able to be in a que to play, AND I wouldn't be able to connect to the other data centers that OTHER people can not connect to. That doesn't make any sense. Unless of course, they're blocked from the data centers they have a character on, just like me.

SE tends to do a great job of updating this game, just like they did FFXI, very often. And I'm very appreciative of that. But I don't understand why this is still a problem today considering there are definitely solutions so that we can all play.

Why not have it so that our characters can log into any server each time we play? I know it's possible because IIRC, that's how Diablo II was, many many years ago.

Just an idea. Surely SE can think of something better, but why not do something, instead of blocking paying customers? Because clearly, that's what's going on right now....not just a "congestion issue".

I had no problem playing earlier. I was in que for a few seconds, no big deal. I see no reason why that can't still be the case. I know it's a Friday night, day of the new expansion, etc. I get that. But we need to be able to play. I paid money for early access and I'm getting NO access now.

Of course it would. That's why the same method would be used as transferring servers. Force a name change, easy solution.....

Yea, no. Forcing name changes just punishes the player base. Been there, done that in other games, it sucks and forever decreases your attachment to your character. Every time you see your character's name from then on, you'll always be pissed off about losing your name to someone else who didn't have any more right to it than you did.

Huh? Not remotely true. It's so simple. If you want your old name back, simply log onto a different server.... lol c'mon now. you're names not gonna be taken up on every single server. And if it is, how is it unique anyway?......

Beginning to believe this is North American data center issue because most who have complained seem to be on Aether and Primal centers. I too can log onto any of the other data centers but neither of the NA ones, and Aether is where my 50s are...

^^^ Yep! Quite a coincidence isn't it? Nope. You're being blocked. I just got in, after I reset my router. Tried connecting to another data center, worked, then went to mine and worked. Lucky.

My modem has a router built in (comcast). So yeah it might work. By router, I meant I reset both haha! good luck...this is frustrating.
