Yes, because Game of Thrones invented Trial by Combat.... >_> Oh, and "in the eyes of gods and men" is a very, very common phrase from the historical period. Like as common as "Ladies and Gentlemen".

Doesn't change that there is a lot of game of thrones references in the Dusk Vigil dungeon and the Western Coerthas zone...
There is literally a 0% chance any of these references are coincidental.
Yeah, because the fact that's it's been used more than once in the past 2,000 years of human evolution somehow negates the overwhelming abundance of GoT references throughout FFXIV. Have you even played Heavensward?
Aside from trial by combat, "in the eyes of gods and men", and the COUNTLESS quests/references to GoT, please tell me how you'd like to justify the use of "little birds" by Lolorito in the main questline after rescuing Rabhaun. It's a literal parallel to GoT.
A huge chunk of Heavensward is a direct ripoff of GoT, whether you want to admit it or not.
Sorry for the necro, but come on... how has no one called out this blatant copying and borderline plagiarsm?

prolly because of three reasons
- most of the players aren't lawyers, let alone those on George RR Martin's payroll
- The few that are, likely don't want to kill this game or Square Enix for one reason or another
- Japan's copyright laws are laxer, America's and Europe's might have a higher threshold for what is considered plagiarism and SE likely has a legal team to help them in court cases or preventing court cases. Plus George RR Martin or the GoT producers have to be the ones to sue.

So what if they used lot of references with GoT ? So what? Who Cares?
Archovishop Thordan VII: "so.... the dragons are coming"
That doesnt make Heavensward a rip off, doesnt make the story not good.
I like it, was very enjoyable. If they used refences of GoT so be it.
A bad written story and a difference of taste are two different things.

If FFXIV is guilty of something for having popular culture references in its story and quests then I think you'll find the entire media industry is guilty of it.Yeah, because the fact that's it's been used more than once in the past 2,000 years of human evolution somehow negates the overwhelming abundance of GoT references throughout FFXIV. You ask how no one has called them out. Well I ask you how have you not called out every book/film/game you've ever enjoyed? I guarantee you every one of them contains a reference to another work somewhere. Why are you only picking up on it now?
