    Defiance Parry Increase! Yay?

    Only that given how the parry stat is still unclear how often it pops. I'm not so sure if the Defiance's new increased parry rate is actually helpful or a waste. I'm not sure if the 10% increase applies to the stat like you got 600 parry, now it's 660, or if it's actually adding a flat 10% to the rate itself like if 600= 15% then the increase will bring up to 25%. I don't know and none of it is obvious.

    Don't get me wrong I love defense but there's a point to where it's just not worth it compared to the benefits more power has. And before Heavensward I never found building on parry worth it at all, cause it doesn't pop at a noticeable rate and for 10 of 100 hits I take, it only prevents roughly 25% damage on each hit, makes this one of the worst defensive stat I've ever had to deal with in an MMO, if not the worst with the added fact that the game does not tell you what the rate actually is.

    What do you think?
    Is this worth building on now or does this hurt?

    Free parry doesn't hurt (the crit was way better) but I still would avoid it like the plague on gear unless it's forced on you.

    It's pretty much a straight nerf, though a small one. Even though the crit chance was small, it added up over a 10+ minute fight. Every extra crit reduced the boss's HP more. You can't say the same for parry, because it's only a flat 20% reduction now and the chance to parry is also incredibly small. It won't make any difference to tanking or healing.

    Deliverance has the +Crit that defiance lost. Its a change and it makes sense in all honesty. We're slightly more tanky in our tank stance now if the RNG gods are on our side.

    Has anyone tested this? I'd imagine the +10% is to the actual rate, not the stat. That would make a lot more sense.

    I think you are correct since that is how the Crit % works. And +10% rate is not all that bad, if it was +10% parry stat, then it would def be garbage.

    Totally agree. I have seen a noticeable increase in parries, so it does seem to be working. Sure we're doing a bit less damage but we're mitigating more too.

    It's a stealthy approach of theirs to make us use parry right side really. The higher the base in percent is the more valuable every additional percentage point becomes. While 10% parry to 20% parry turns 1/10 blows into 1/5 blows (both are pretty bad due to being very unreliable), parrying nearly 1/3 blows at 30% (20% base + 10% from being Infuriated) would be quite noticeable.

    The true question is - does parry now work like crit does? i.e. does parry rating increase both rate AND strength of the parry?

    No parry rating is still bad. A 10% increase to parry rate is what is halfway decent. Also it does not increase base value. So stacking parry is still bad.
