ERROR 5006 AND 2002 POTENTIAL FIX

2002 / 5056 needs to stop really.. its coming direct from your data center everytime i LOGIN it works then goes into character and it pause for few good sec and disconnected.. this need to stop really. i know its NOT coming from my end.. its on your end.. so take a look at it

Yeah that's actually the most annoying part. Continuously having to type in your password to get back in. Meh i'm pretty much forgetting about ever getting back on tonight. It's too busy, it'll probably be like this most of the night until morning. I can only imagine how bad launch will be.

Can confirm that this works. We'll see if I actually get into the game but I got into Aether by using the Google DNS.

It probably won't, my DNS has been set to google's for ages, and I'm having the problems too.

I can get to the character screen now, but stuck in the same spot in queue for the last 5 minutes..

This is so infuriating. Especially when, after an entire day of failed attempts, one finally gets logged in to the character screen, and the queue is at 1,134, and after patiently waiting and watching for over half an hour, the queue has managed to drop to 689. Then, BAM, it's back to the lobby error screen. I have only been playing this game for about a month. I do not have the new expansion yet, but this type of frustration is enough to make me rethink continuing to pay a sub for a game in which I can not even log on to play. The lack of company response adds to my doubt.

I've got these issues and I noticed missing characters in my online account data. At least my main is still here. If it were really a DNS issue you'd be unable to authenticate long enough to get into the start menu. The trouble seems to be happening between the authentication server and the world servers somewhere.

Hello all!

First and foremost, THIS IS NOT LUCK. Anyone saying it is the data centers connection is partially wrong. 2002s are normally a data center connection issue, but it seems the client is throwing 2002s because of not being able to connect to data centers due to a faulty configuration, not because servers are throttling bandwidth / limiting incoming connections.

So some observations I have made, I like to put into a small reply that could help SE isolate the problem:

There are 2 common error messages: 5006 and 2002. I am quite certain 5006 is a server connection issue that resolves by itself. My desktop (which never experienced 2002 errors) did have some shares of 5006 errors and it eventually did login. I am certain that infinite 2002 is a software related problem. Most likely something was poorly programmed...

It turns out for some people swapping worlds doesn't fix it (2002). Others it does fix it, but then leads to an infinite queue. Now there are 2 config files:

FFXIV.cfg
and
FFXIV_BOOT.cfg

It turns out deleting these files sometimes resolves the issue for people. I looked at both files and it seems FFXIV could be the potential culprit:

I am not sure how this differs from the original game, but I am sure EVERYONE posting here was able to access the game before the expansion just fine without doing any crazy world swapping, deleting files, modifying their DNS settings, or playing with their router.

I haven't looked at a corrupted game yet, but I suspect these numbers would be "wrong" somehow, possibly ServiceIndex pointing to some random number. I will try to isolate it to the exact cause for the 2002s I've personally resolved if I run into the situation again. There is also a bunch of .dat files in the directory that look like they may just be related to character data, and possibly these are being corrupted also. On my non-corrupted computer none of the FFXIV_CHARA_XX.dat files have been modified since the expansion. They were all changed before the expansion.

So I recommend ANYONE replying to this thread to provide the following:

1) Operating System (including version) / Console
2) Which error message NUMBER they see

So for me I've seen the following on 2 machines:

Machine 1
1) Windows 7
2) 5006 (which resolved itself after reconnecting ~3-5 times)

Machine 2
1) Windows 8.1
2) 2002 and 5006 (alternating (equally same amount of 5006 as Machine 1), but more so 2002 infinitely until world swap resolved issue)

People have posted here that they had their game installed on an external hard drive and plugging into another machine made the game work fine, which points to the .cfg / .dat files.

If everyone can provide that we can try to solve each problem...

I only got the 2002 error messages

i found switching your datta center and logging out after (withouth switching back) and changing the center back to aether after logging back in worked getting me past 2002 and into a working queue not in yet but will say so if i do

edit: successful log in!

Side note: I was starting to get the error message on a different data center when it was the ccenter i was last logged into before exiting the game

Not sure if it means anything but could'nt hurt to mention
