I think the Aether data center, and our world in particular, are just really broken right now.

Yeah me thinks so too, I made the mistake of logging out to get some food, and whelp, can't get back in now : \ -- I Have noticed however, that my 'Connection' is now listed as 'Poor' instead of 'Excellent' on Aether as per normal, on the off chances I am able to get on the Data server for a short time and attempt to queue before my 2002, may-hap the servers need an expansion of their own? OR in a week there will be a massive drop of player base again of fed-up people and nothing will happen. *shrug*
