The game is in Modern English, just an antiquated form of it.

Elizabethan English, which is what Shakespeare wrote in, was Modern English.
Old English was the language of the Angles and Saxons (Anglo-Saxon) and is more Germanic than what we consider to be English today. The untranslated version of Beowulf was written in Old English.
Middle English was the in-between version when the speech of other predominant groups in Western Europe such as the Normans began to influence the vernacular and in turn evolve the language. An example of Middle English (technically Late Middle English) is Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.

I personally have no trouble understanding what is being said and the speech of the different groups is meant to convey flavor and personality to regional dialects.
I feel it adds to the game.

Thats fine and dandy but I dislike it. I would like an option so Don't have to read this unfamiliar text that gives me a headache.

Yuuuuup. Which is so very evident when yet again there are scenes where midgarsorm says 2 sentences in Japanese only to have just the first sentence translated in English. Because indeed, the localization team in english is very important. So important that it seems its the only one that strays pretty far from the script. (unlike the french/german from what i hear)

Thats because the translation team seems to have changed between then and now. Back then they still made it sound ''old'' but they also kept true that was actually being said, and didnt go on a mindtrip into unknown and strange ''olden language''

    This again...

The only part of the script that can be annoying is Lominsan pirate speech. I see no real reason to spend resources on two English localizations.

I said it was a minor complaint. But the pirate thing, Ramuh and other scenes to me is just an eye sore to hear and read. Sometimes imo it comes off a bit corny.

Okay then how about we get one that actually stays faithful to the script eh? I dont see why they felt the need to change this from 1.0 The entire localization seems like its just a ball with it tbh. They even felt the need to change the typical ''ra/aga/aja/etc'' suffices of abilities.

FYI, its just the english localization thats like this. Not the french or german. Starting to wonder if perhaps i should change my text to german.

Oh well, I guess its a way to practice Japanese. Translating an entire sentence in a complex conversation with not often used words, without a single word of text as guidance :P
