    Dungeon - The Howling Eye

Hi I am stuck on the dungeon called The Howling Eye, because I am not a very good tank at all. I am a level 44 Marauder/Warrior and can't play my class that good. I was wondering if there is anything at all that could help me to do better or play better in dungeons. I would appreciate any help or tips at all.

Try a different job. Maybe a healer or DPS is more suited to your play style. The good thing about this game is you can level any job you want, and even get bonus xp when doing a different job.

I would say the most important thing is to learn enemy patterns and to direct attacks away from your party. A lot of newer tanks have this problem and sometimes end up directing enemy attacks towards their team and getting them killed. However, a tank also needs a good healer who can alternate between healing the tank and everyone else.

What precisely is killing you in the fight? Taking heavy damage from certain mechanics? Losing aggro?

Here's a good mock up on the Tanks POV.

Pull Garuda to the wall. where she stands. Dodge Slipstream - there is not any indication on the floor that she's casting it. You need to look at her and if shes charging run through her. then when it goes off, head back to your position.

When she jumps first time, hide with everyone else, then return to your tanking spot.

Avoid Slipstream again. Ignore adds and tank her in the spot. When she disappears, just stand at your spot, pop a big cooldown, for dmg and she will come to you. If you go after her, you'll break rocks and can be bad.

    3rd jump adds again, ignore.

4th jump is the point where you need to have limit break on your bar and cast it.

    Ph2, in tornado.
When she jumps you need to get behind her. Or you'll die.

Next jump you need to make sure you are absolutely across from her.

    Then rinse repeat.

Behind her next jump / across after.

It's very important that your dodging SLIPSTREAM. It can stun you if you get hit by it and takes your hp to half/or very low.

leveling to 45 and completing your class quest then will help a lot.

So much this. I remember getting to this part with my friends back when it was new. We struggled like crazy to defeat it at lv 44. But once we hit 45 and all went and got our AF gear from our lv 45 job quest, it was a night and day difference. It was much much easier. the stat differences between the gear you can obtain at lv44 and the AF is crazy. IMO SE needs to make the lv requirement 45 that way its way more likely everyone will have done there AF quest.

I guess a good question is what level PLD are you?

As suggested, get to level 45 and do the warrior quest there. That will get you a lot better armor.
Also go to Maelstrom HQ and get the grand company level 44 axe.
Finally, level gladiator to 22 for provoke. It looks like you are at 17 now. You shouldn't really need provoke for Garuda but you will need it in general.

Otherwise Mirakumi gave advice about Garuda specifically. Also look in the tank section of the forums.
