Revisions:
- I posted a full guide here!
- Corrected some of the quantities in the list, I'd still use it "with a grain of salt"
- There is another possible condition that is better than excellent, which is Outstanding (2/3 mats added to initial quantities).
- You do not need to get to 100 to achieve Excellent or Outstanding. Sometimes you will get these at less than 100 quality, and sometimes you won't get these when you reach 100, it just seems to improve your odds!
- Caution to those building a 2nd airship: Conditions must be met before you employ a 2nd airship into your service, but it isn't clear yet what those are. The mammet has some vague information. Will update when I know more!
We just built the first rank airship, it was fun tracking down all the materials and putting everything together.
To sum up the process, it is pretty much just a series of hand-ins. You have four different airship parts, and each part has 3 phases. Although a game dialog told us that there was a limit to how many we could do per day, we couldn't find that number anywhere and none of us reached it. You'll need 4 crafters in the party, and some of them will need to be high enough level to hand in the materials in the various jobs. Unfortunately, there isn't much for the other party members to do, they just have to be there!
Every time you hand in a stack of items, there is a chance Quality will increase. If you manage to get to 100 quality points in a phase, youwillget an Excellent rating and the next phase will be condition: excellent (slightly incorrect, see note above). As far as we can tell, the only advantage to this is that you won't have to turn in quite as many items during that phase. Your quality gains will be higher but that just seems to be offsetting the fact that you have fewer hand-ins during that phase.
The biggest question that we had starting out: Does it matter if materials are high quality or normal quality?
We turned in a combo of NQ and HQ items and we actually had a higher average increase with NQ (average = 6.6, n = 57) than we did with HQ (average = 4.7, n = 26).
Our early conclusion is that the only difference between NQ and HQ is how much EXP you get. There's obviously a lot of RNG involved, so perhaps there is a slight benefit to HQ mats, but our trend was in the opposite direction.
Obviously for the lowest rank airship, the mats are not scarce and there probably isn't much advantage to using HQ mats. About half of the mats can be purchased from the amaljaa vendor!
These are early conclusions, and maybe some of this has even been said in the patch notes. Please correct any errors!
/u/Mishona from reddit put together a list of materials. Haven't double checked to verify, but this would have been pretty useful. I've marked which ones you can purchase from the Amalj'aa vendor, which is a pretty good portion of it: (EDIT: seems players have found a couple inconsistencies with this list, I've corrected the ones pointed out)
