As of Heavensward, when you zoom the camera all the way out, you can't hear anything your character is doing (machinist). Only when you zoom all the way back in, can you hear combat. Kind of detrimental to someone who plays combat while zoomed out, for a full view of the playfield.

This did not happen before.

There's a setting in the audio settings that allows you to choose where you hear sound. Theres a slider between character and camera. Double check to make sure it wasnt changed, or fiddle with it to your liking.
