Either you don't have much experience with MMOs or you're just extremely impatient- either way, just chill out... It's going be crowded and it's going to be hard to log on for the next week or so. I suggest finding a good movie or tv show you like and play it in the background. You could listen to music and get your frustrations out that way. And yes, you could even get up and do something outside while you wait, as I'm sure plenty of people have already suggested... (Though it'd defeat the purpose of trying to log on and play)

This is why I stay away from the heavily populated servers like Balmung. Moogle is running gloriously right now. Had no issues today at all *watch it crash now*

Come on! This is just unacceptable SE. I don't care how many RMT bots are flooding the network to make new characters, why not simply just set the server up so only early access people can actually make characters and not random RMTers?

Like...do you guys just not see this stuff coming? Why do you even fix your fingers to complain about something you know is going to happen?

Has any popular MMO ever gotten a massive update and not gotten swarmed by crippling login issues?

This is almost exactly whats happening, people try, fail, try again, fail, whine on forums (fail), try again....sometimes the forums even go down from people whining.

I was going to wake up early to get an hour or two in before work, but my better senses just told me it was a waste of time. I KNEW this was going to happen...

It's kind of sad that many of us expect the servers to be crap. We really shouldn't have to have such low expectations at this point.

If anything, this is just an indication of how popular the game is. But you couldn't name me a single popular game, P2P or otherwise, that managed to avoid this issue.
