No company is going to look at that and say "Yeah, that sounds like a good idea."I don't think it's just SE. In the last 10 years, no company has managed to launch an MMO or an MMO expansion with a multi-million player base without that launch being a complete mess. Maybe it's just not possible. Also, this kind of shit is the reason people write anti-afk bots...

I would argue that renting hardware for a week/month or more to avoid this crap is a great idea. Sure, it costs money, but so what. This game is basically printing cash for SE at this point. They should be willing to spend to avoid making people upset.

I think you and I must respectfully disagree. Between the current subscriber base and projected sales of the expansion SE has a good idea of how many people they can expect at launch and plan accordingly. At the very least they could have utilized an entry queue for access with enough lobby servers to handle the crowd. Instead they believed their world instances would be sufficient. They were wrong.I don't think it's just SE. Actually, I completely agree with you. I don't think it should be an impossible problem. At the same time, no one has really done a good job of solving it.I think you and I must respectfully disagree. My friend recruitment codes (I put it here because in the thread it just gets out dated quickly by new posts):
My code(1): HVTRTX6P (Unused)
My code(2): RAJHW2J3 (Unused, but could be invalid at this point)

I love the part where people assume it's incompetence or malice. Sorry guys, let me know when YOU can launch an MMO without congestion/stability issues. I mean come on.. even [the other well known MMO that is always referred to for comparison] has trouble with launches. Not as bad, but still.
While also giving preference to certain players. Smart one. Why not start at 8 am Central time and work east ward so that I would have slept to a decent hour instead?

ESO
both launches were fine server-wise. SW:TOR didn't seem to have any serious issues. ESO had glitched quests week down the road that prevented main story progression.
