should have finished them story quests (; _ ; )I am pretty bummed that you have 0 access to the new jobs unless you have completely beaten the entire story line thus far. I knew this a while ago, but I really had no idea the extent of this. I just beat Ultima Weapon thinking I was good, or at least close.
Now I find out theres about another 125 or so quests to go before I have fully done the entire story. I really wanted to play this content on a new job

This needs to be liked more. I don't think it's at all unreasonable to be upset by this. It won't even affect me and I'm still bothered by the way the new jobs were handled.Jesus christ guys, what's with the attitude!
We're all here because we love this game (or at least like it somewhat!), what's with all the snarky remarks!?
I do happen to be just okay with people having to proceed past a certain point to experience the expansion, but at the same time I can understand why he'd be bummed out! I mean he did pay for the expansion, like we all did, and he realized he can't experience all he payed for yet. What's with the lack of empathy going on here, jeez!

It's a lot, yes. But at level 50, you can literally do every single quest in a day. Most are just run from point A to point B and turn in.I am pretty bummed that you have 0 access to the new jobs unless you have completely beaten the entire story line thus far. Don't sweat it. It only took me a few days at a few hours a day to catch up.
Don't worry about it.
Just enjoy the story, as you would in any other FF game.
Also, one more thing.
DON'T
SKIP
ANY
SCENES
They're all important!
Edit: Seriously though, people are looking at the restriction like its some huge insurmountable task, but it's really just time consuming if you don't know what you're doing. I mean, it only took me a short while after i hit 50 to catch up, and that was months ago.

I know what I'm doing, and I still see the quests as a chore... right now at least.Don't worry about it.

I did the story because I enjoy going through the story, but I do it in my own pace. If I want to do other things, I can just stop doing story and do those instead. But right now, I have a ton of story quests to catch up to if I want to do the new stuff given in Heavensward.

The TC was just disappointed. They didn't really whine about it.
I can imagine thinking you beat the main story (which technically you do) after Ultima, then realize you were mistaken and you have at least a day (if not more) of random (mostly annoying) quest grinding to do. I've done it on three characters, so yeah - I get it. On the other hand, as someone mentioned, now that the quests give XP, you'll probably burn through the quests AND level to 60 on the way on whatever you main job is right now. So you'll get "new content" a day (or a few days) later than others, but you'll probably be several levels higher on your main job and that's pretty cool, honestly.
Still, I get the disappointment - and I don't get all the bad attitudes in this thread. Doesn't kill you to actually read a post, take it for face value, be supportive or leave. The TC didn't even "wish it were different' just stated how bummed out they were. Find some empathy, community.
When I go to the movies. The movie Theather does not fast foward the movie to the end of the movie
Movies are linear experiences. MMOs are not, or at least I hope this particular game isn't.
Just like watching any series... if Story mode is the only thing FFXIV has to offer, then I have no qualms going through Story mode in order to catch up. Fortunately, this game has more to offer than just linear storytelling.
Yes please. We don't ask you to agree with us. Just... at least feel our sentiments maybe?Still, I get the disappointment - and I don't get all the bad attitudes in this thread. Worry not, I will do exactly that.
At least until I cool down or feel like playing this game again.

Well, so far, this game has been pretty linear.
Even patch Primals have been gated behind story AND previous patch Primals.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Ninja is also hiding behind MSQ, isn't it?
However, there is always plenty of content available to do that does not involve the main story. It just so happens the content you (and many others) want to do is behind the main story content. I'd just like to point out that the story of FFXIV (and any story that's trying to be clear and coherent) is very linear and it wouldn't make too much sense to allow you into barred areas without doing the leg work to be allowed into the barred areas.
I do sympathize with disappointment and frustration, but I also think that for the purposes of telling a good story and being an immersive world, this is a good move for the content in question.
