There's quite a difference between locking something behind being a certain level and locking it behind hours of story. >.>
You know sometimes i think some people won't be happy unless every single peice of content is all up for grabs from the very start of the game. No working or actually playing the game, just give me all of it, asap.
No wait, people won't be happy because then we'll get complaints that it's to easy to access. I don't think this situation is winnable.
Duuuude (or Baaaabe if you want), it's not that we're asking for them to give everything to us immediately right now.You know sometimes i think some people won't be happy unless every single peice of content is all up for grabs from the very start of the game. But at least we should get something the moment we buy Heavensward, and don't let all that hype go away upon realization of this great wall of restrictions you have to go through to even get a glimpse of the expansion.
As I mentioned in another thread... at the moment, I have zero incentives in buying Heavensward if I haven't finished all the Main Story. That is quite very contrary to all the commercials and hype they put out with the release of Heavensward, which actually turns out to be aimed *only* for existing players who has already played considerable amount of time through the game.
Please don't get me wrong. I don't want to be spoonfed with all the good stuff immediately. I love myself a good challenge, but there's a line between challenge and tedious chore. I play the story quests *for* the story, I do PvPs for Wolf Marks (and some tomestones), I do FATEs to level up. But now, I need to do the story in order to continue doing better stuff that I want.
Why did they decide to lock everything behind that 2.55 quest? Those who somehow neglected to keep up with the story (perhaps because they're busy IRL or doing other content the game has to offer... which is my reason apparently) get severely disadvantaged and somehow get left out with the release of the expansion.

If you plan to level everything, eventually you'll do that. Including new jobs. Just because it's new, it doesn't mean you need to rush and get it right away.
Enjoy what ou have now otherwise you won't be able to enjoy what you'll have later.
And remember: You have to finish the 2.0 story. From 3.0 and on you'll have all the oportunities in the world to clear whatever you like with the new classes, since I highly doubt SE will stop uptading the game with new content anytime soon.

I'm so sad I can't fight Shiva without fighting Ramuh first. I really want to see the Shiva fight guys, why do I have to fight Ramuh, it isn't fair.
I also cry because my mommy makes me eat my veggies before my dessert. It's unfair, I tell you.

Jesus christ guys, what's with the attitude!
We're all here because we love this game (or at least like it somewhat!), what's with all the snarky remarks!?
I do happen to be just okay with people having to proceed past a certain point to experience the expansion, but at the same time I can understand why he'd be bummed out! I mean he did pay for the expansion, like we all did, and he realized he can't experience all he payed for yet. What's with the lack of empathy going on here, jeez!

Yeah, I dunno. I think having a level requirement would have been enough, but I also think they really want people to understand the story (it's FF after all). It wouldn't be so bad if half the quests weren't just running around to collect sentences and short paragraphs from NPC's.
Maybe it's the use of our Lord and Savior's name in vain.
This is an *expansion*. Not the base game. Really should be self-explanatory. This has nothing to do with a lack of empathy. More like misplaced expectations. There is no need to rush anything; this isn't a race, it is a journey through the world SE has created for us, and if you can't be bothered with taking the time to really enjoy it and smell the roses, that's like going to a high class restaurant and scarfing down your meal like a dog not tasting anything. And all that accomplishes is leaving you with an empty, unsatisfied feeling. The content of this game is not going anywhere, and SE finds multiple ways to get higher level people to keep running older content, not to mention making leveling and catch-up gearing far far easier for new people than it has ever been before. I find it rather absurd to be viewing the time and effort required to catch up to current story content as insurmountable. Take a look around on various threads on the forum and you'll see plenty of anecdotes of just how easy it really is. I can understand it may seem like a lot of work at first, but when you take into account how everything is set up, and actually get into it...it's a whole different picture.

Thank you for explaining all of that, but I am well aware and you appear to have completely missed the point of why I wrote what I wrote to begin with!
Why do people get so frustrated and angry that someone else has different feelings about something! And it's not even something that affects anyone here in ANY WAY!!!!
He was just venting, expressing some disappointment and maybe looking for some compassion!
And forgive me if I mistook all the (and I quote) "Deal with it or play something else" attitude with anger - I mean damn! It just seems like such a contradictory thing to do... I mean I'm rather happy that I have more people to play with, it also means the game will likely live longer and experience more support and updates (after all, more players = more money = more interest from the company managing the game).
Such a pretty wall of text!

Too much to do. Complain. Too little to do. Complain. Can't please everyone really. Just be glad nothing is taken away and the developers is making sure everyone gets to experience the content they used so much blood and sweat to make instead of allowing people to skim pass a huge chunk of content making it obsolete. There's no rush so take it slow, take a breather and enjoy everything the game presents to you in a timely manner.
