Race specific gear and quests

I would really like to see some race specific gear and race specific quests. Something to take more pride in my chosen race, to learn more about the history, etc.

What do you guys think?

I always thought that it was funny, that the same piece of armor could be worn by me, given to a Lala, and then show up on his char at 1/4 the size...

Race gear was relevant to FFXI, but not to XIV. The purpose of that gear was to give stats in areas that race was lacking. It wouldn't make sense in this world because there is no reason for it and the racial differences are very minimal.

Yea what Brucey said. Racial gear has no real need unless you make it more like "ethnic" gear as it pertains to the game lore.

Looking at it from an ffxi perspective it doesn't make sense, for the reasons you guys mentioned. But that's not the way I was thinking about it. More of a uniqueness for each race, doesn't even have to be good gear. Lore quests and getting rewarded by a cool looking set of gear for each race would be a nice side content. I would be more interested in these than the typical quests there are now and with the reward of getting another pair of basic gear every leve/quest gives out that you just npc or throw on a mule to sell.

Going the opposite way of ffxi of balancing the races out, where it instead boosts a race stats above others would be interesting.

What if when you first equip an item it "sets" to that race. Roegadyn finds cloak, Roegadyn equips cloak, the cloak becomes fitted for a Roegadyn. If a Lallafel buys it from the Roegadyn and equips it, the lallafel is now wearing a big cloak.

If it sets to a Lallafel and a Roegadyn buys it. He would be a big guy in a little cloak. Just think of all the confusion and fun!

I think the OP don't mean gear with race specific stats, but gear with race specific style.
Barbaric gear for Highlander, fur gear for Miqo'te (like the poachers in Black Shroud), normal gear for Midlander, arabic gear for Lalafell
