More stats there are more gear variety there will be.



Yeah and the more complex and hard to balance all gear and stats become. Let's keep it simple and have them perfect that instead of adding more needless variables. Complexity is not the answer, especially since we barely have a grasp of how the current stats work.
They're able to make quite a wide variety of gear with the stats that exist as it is. There's actually gear with stats that do not exist within the confines of our attribute sheet such as the enhanced skill effects, Store TP, Regen and Refresh.

Simple and easy to balance. Things like luck, charisma, agility, etc... are all complex and, to be completely honest, redundant with how stats are now. I think we've got enough stats to worry about as it stands, we don't need to make it needlessly complex for the sake of complexity. There's no need for all those stats.
Not to mention, as I said and you ignored, there are stats on gear that are not on the attribute sheet. We've got enough as it stands.
Simple systems allow the devs to more easily balance content, gear, equations. In doing so they are able to more quickly create and implement said content. Needless complexity draws that process out a lot more. The more variables there are to consider, the harder it is to really create a balanced piece of content.

Adding complexity simply to be complex is not smart design. It's a pretentious and frankly, amateurish design ideal.
Stats are horribly balanced as is and you want more???
Maybe we should just go to FFXI method where some stats weren't the real value and you had to calculate with some crazy math to figure out the true stat value? /sarcasm
