Thanks, yeah waiting game. A second to learn and a life time to master. Oh well, I have yet to reach 50 and finish the main story so I will not even really get to access most of the expansion for a while yet, but still, I am looking forward to it.

Yes, there will be an actual product code that you have to enter for the digital PC version. If you ordered from the Square Enix store, then you will see it under -> Account Management -> Orders -> View Specific Order. It is where you got the preorder code from. However, it will not be there until the actual release date. The preorder code only allows early access until the 27th, and then you have to enter the real product code to continue playing.

If you ordered digitally from somewhere else like Amazon, then Amazon will email you the final product code usually or list it in the order download area upon actual release date.

Probably not. You just simply login to the account management on the 23rd and view that order to see the actual product code. This is of course, if you chose the digital version for PC.

Yep did that and just checked an it has no code next to registration code/s, so I will do as you suggest and check there on the 23rd, will also keep an eye here as I am sure someone will shout when they start to show up there.

Wait. Since Walmart isn't going to deliver my hardcopy until the 26th, does that means I'll have two days of no expansion service when the game goes live? (Technically, it might be 5 since they won't send me my early access code either...)
