i think PLD isnt "holy" enough

paladin in almost any game is always the stereotypical holy knight, but in here there isnt enough stuff that makes them feel holy knight imo

skills like holy cross or holy smite are like staple crusader/paladin skills and there isnt really anything like it.

they couldve renamed the current PLD as Guardian and it wouldve fit better.

Well, just wait until an expansion comes out. Maybe you'll get lucky.

Paladins aren't really holy to begin with. They're just glorified knights and none of them healing, holiness, etc. The idea of Paladins being holy warriors started with DnD.

Ergo, FFXIV's PLD still fits the definition.

Paladins are mostly corrupt more than anything, most lore shows a gang of darkside paladin, or Paladins betraying the order. In ff14 it also shows that. They are not holy just self righteous good or bad, they believe only their way is right.

Paladins are just knights. There is no inherent 'holy' connotation to the name.

I´ve read a few times here that they are called "Knight" in the japanese version. No wonder they don´t really have lots of Holy Paladin stuff. I am still wondering why they didn´t translate the class name correctly.

Not this again. PLDs here are the elite royal guard of Ul'dah, the Sultansworn, of whom the player isn't even a member of, but instead has just learned their special sword and shield skills. As the game terms it, you're a 'free PLD', a knight errant essentially. And as Rawker mentioned, the idea of the Job being 'holy' knights mostly comes from Dungeons and Dragons. Lets face it, the player character is already a holy warrior to start with, regardless of what class or Job they are, being the 'Warrior of Light' as ordained by Hydaelyn Herself.

Really, SE can call them however they wish (and before you pass judgement, in version 1.0 PLDs did use holy spells after a fashion, but that was because SCH didn't exist and thus they needed a second healing Job in the game besides WHM. With SCH's introduction in ARR PLD lost it's potency in healing in favour of straight tanking. You win some you lose some.)
